    *BUYING TOMORROW* Please Vote! *UPDATE*

Some money is burning a hole in my pocket so i'm going to do some upgrading tomorrow . Here are current specs...

    XP2100+ 210X11 0302 (GOES TO ABOUT 2.35 STABLE 24/7)
EPOX 8RDA+ 1.1 VDD MODDED ALL MAJOR CHIPS PASSIVE COOLED 1.8VDD
    2X256 OCZ 3500EL DC 2,2,2,4 SYNC
MSI GEFORCE 4 4400TI 320/650 TT FAN AND RAMSINKS
    MAXTOR ATA133 40GB FBD
    VIEWSONIC P95F+B 19" BLACK
    LITE-ON 16X DVD BLACK/LITE-ON 48XCDRW BLACK
    ALIENWARE KB AND MOUSE BLACK

I know my system looks pretty good now, but I need a mobo, ram, and video card and I got a pretty good second system. So I figure why not just get better stuff for my main rig . This is what I eventually want this system to look like...

    2800+ or 3000+ BARTON
    ABIT NF7-S 2.0
    9800 PRO
    2X256 TWINMOS 3200 W/NEW MEMORY CHIPS
    2x36gb WD sata raptor's raid 0
    LIAN-LI PC75
    DANGERDEN/SWIFTECH WATER COOLER

In the system above I will of course use all the best parts I have. So in all i'm planning on spending about $600-700 cdn.

Now to the vote, I'm going to buy a cpu of some kind tomorrow and can't decide which. I don't mind buying something to use and then sell down the road, as long as it's something that I can get my money back on. I eventually will be upgrading to the 2800 or 3000 so it is more then just price for performance. I'm including the 2500+ in the vote but it is my least favorite because I would rather take a cheaper step now, since i'm upgrading to a barton anyway. I will include prices in Canadian dollars and special situations I can get with them.

here are prices for the other stuff i'm going to get...

    ABIT MOBO- $177CDN
9800 PRO- $580-$625CDN (GOING TO TRY AND GET ONE OFF EBAY)
    TWINMOS 3200 256- $185CDN 2 STICKS SHIPPED
    WD RAPTOR SATA- $235 EA.

I plan on buying the case and water cooler last so that's what I have to chose from. I would rather wait for about 2-3 weeks to get the 9800 pro since that's when I get my taxes back, and the card will be more mainstream and maybe a little price drop/

Well, I gave the xp1700 my vote mainly because I'm a tight wad! But also because the only real benefit the barton has is the factory 166 fsb, and it's a known fact that the 1700 is able to reach the same ouput as all the bartons right now. So I see no need to spend the extra $400.00 just for the barton label. That $400.00 could be better spent on the 9800.

Thinking of these sets, and all are pretty much the same price. I will be completing this upgrade minus case/watercooler in 3 weeks, so all will eventually be bought...

    1) 1700+/NF7-S/9500 np/4 PORT ROUTER/TT SMARTFAN 2 FOR MY SLK-800 $595.71 CDN SHIPPED BEFORE PRICE OF ROUTER

    2) 1700+/NF7-S/2X256 TWINMOS/TT SMARTFAN 2 *$524.19 CDN SHIPPED*

    3) 2800+/NF7-S *$550 CDN SHIPPED*

    4) 9700 PRO/NF7-S *$687 CDN SHIPPED*

    5) 9800 PRO/1700+ *$702 CDN SHIPPED*

    6) 1700+/NF7-S/WD 36 RAPTOR/SMARTFAN 2 *$612 CDN SHIPPED*

    7) NF7-S/2 WD 36GB RAPTOR *$739 CDN SHIPPED*

    8) 2500+/NF7-S/ROUTER/9500 NP OR TWINMOS RAM *$678.87/$608.91 CDN BOTH SHIPPED AND BEFORE ROUTER*

I also forgot to mention that with me getting a mobo, ram, vid card, and router will enable me to get a second system going.

I have not tried the XP1700+ DLT3C JIUHB0310XPMW , but had real good OCing luck with the XP1700+ DLT3C JIUHB0310WPMW for $72 at EXcaliber.

this 1700+ is only $92 cdn so it's a good deal. Might be able to price match to $80 too if I choose to go that route.

on a system similar to yours my bros saphire 9500 np does 170003dmarks without major attempts. Its watercooled but oced to only 375/300 so i could recommend the 9500 for a budget system. Personally i would go all out and get the 9800, but the 9500 is the best deal around.

Thumbs up The 1700+ is the real deal.

My 1700 does 2400 I think on plain water with one pelty on nb pushing up the temps a little.
So together with the nf7-s it would deliver you very nice perf results.

Then save up a little more money for a 9800pro like I do

go for the 1700+ , just more fun , and you will afford to upgrade in a few months when the Barton starts to get more OC friendly.
