    It's alive!! It's alive!! my 2.96ghz @1.482v sp2004 7+ hours stable baby is alive!!

I'm doing blend sp2004 testing to check for damage, anything else you guys suggest?

I am running on my second dfi board, i don't want to power this one again

There's not much to see, I smelled what's going on and unplugged it just in time before the thing blew a hole in the board.

The one with R60 - I guess that's a mosfet, not a cap? Bah, need to study more electronics than just overclockics

Thank you. It's the one that inducts - right?

I thought it's the cap, because the smoke and sparks seemed to be coming from it, but in the 0.3 seconds I didn't take a close look from where it was exactly coming from.

and Nicks- Where is my limb?! I want it shipped in ice, fedex overnight!!

....just kidding, it was a DFI
( I still wouldn't mind your limb though)
Are they known for faulty caps?

No, but they're known for faulty everything lol

Your board must be borked or something. I've done 3.2Ghz @ 1.7v in my MSI and had no problem... air. Opty 148. I have same inductors too, R60.

LOL I doubt it'd do anything to CPU PWM but I'm suprised it didnt blow a trace!

you must not have been cooling it properly, as there is pretty much nothing to fail on an inductor.

it is only a piece of wire wrapped around a core, often ferrite, to create a magnetic field(inductance).

the only possible explanation is that you let it get too hot, the metal wire expanded and cracked the ceramic casing.

actually, thats pretty much the only thing it could be, because if you destroyed the inductor the board wouldnt work.

Thats what I wonder... because wow not much on one of those things that can fail atleast its only damaged. Thats a pretty hard thing to do...

Maybe a short. That's why it is all boxed up. It can't be fully boxed up as it does need to keep cool.
