    What processor is this?!

My uncle gave me a processor that he claim is the Core 2 Duo or Core Duo. Is this a laptop processor? I can't fit it on a 775 socket? Anyone have any idea what processor this is? Thanks.

    Banias chip???

It is very old to e a Core 2 Duo...
When Mercedes brought their C111 to Talledega years ago and blew away the closed course record did it count? Yes..
That was a "factory" car and a "one of" that no one could buy and was never sold.
Records are records and that is a fact so get over it.

No my uncle tested it on another motherboard at his work and he said it's Core Duo. I'm wondering if it's one of those laptop core duo.

    yeah definately pentium 3 something

try using the site from the company that actually made the cpu
you might be amaxed at what you find when you actually search there

and your sig is just a tad excessive why dont you save all of us and actually resize it to a size that doesnt take up 1/2 a page

that is no p3, it has around 478-479 pins if you compare it to a yonah chip on google images... from the die and packaging date, id say its a early core duo es, and no not core 2 duo, core duo... nevermind, its a dothan. http://www.gamepc.com/images/labs/rev-dothan-chipLG.jpg

I was counting the pins and I was thinking the same thing! Well I guess it's a Core Duo. Damn, so much for getting excited. I thought he gave me some prototype Core 2 Duo.

    Thanks everyone!

i'ts a dothan es in BGA packaging eh? you wont find a motherboard for that lol, it needs to be soldered to the board.

I atually have a use for it though.... lol, depending on the speed. pm me, aim me (sn=cirthix), or email me (cirthix a.t gmail d0.t com)

edit: it's likely a 1.2, 1.1, or 1.0ghz ULV chip, in which case, i'm VERY VERY VERY VERY interested. i'm doing a project and NEED n ULV ES chip. it's not any use to you since it's a chip that needs to be soldered to a board.

try plugging it into a socket 478 motherboard. if it doesnt fit i believe asus sells an adapter that converts 478 to socket 479 or something like that if you want to know badly enough.

it has no pins, you can't plug it into anything. i'ts BGA packaging. and you don't just "try" to put it into an incomptaable motherboard, you'll fry at least one of them. 478 is very differnt from 479

It's a core duo for laptop. 2ghz model. I can get the pin model instead of bga. My uncle has both. He's willing to give me one. I'll trade someone a pinned model worth $250-300 on newegg.com for a E6400 if anyone is interested to get one of these for a laptop upgrade.

This pic is an early core duo (yonah) ES chip, your chip doesnt look anything like that but it does look exactly like this pentium m7x5 series. The traces on the front match up perfectly with your chip. So based on pin configuration indicated by the traces, the core size, and the core orientation the chip you have shown us is some sort of dothan ES BGA chip not a core duo.
