It looks like you have to leave 1 core to help with the GPU folding client, so you can run CPU client and 1 GPU.

Any early indications on how much extra score is achieved, is it anything near the 40 times faster?

The calculations that it does are supposedly 20x faster or more, but the points are different. With an X1900XT the points end up being about 400/day.

Mine did 11 early ends overnight & then picked up a good WU about 3am , & was 25 frames in by 8am. I've stopped the client until I get back from work so I can pick through the log file. The errors looked like this:

    [22:30:38] Project: 2722 (Run 1, Clone 68, Gen 0)
    [22:30:38]
[22:30:38] Assembly optimizations on if available.

    [22:53:24] Completed 2
    [22:53:35] mdrun_gpu returned 114
    [22:53:35]
    [22:53:35] Folding@home Core Shutdown: EARLY_UNIT_END
    [22:53:38] CoreStatus = 72 (114)
    [22:53:38] Sending work to server

[22:53:38] - Error: Could not read unit 02 file. Removing from queue.

I'll try the 6.5 drivers later, since I'm on the 6.10's here at the moment.

My 3 cents: cooling issues if your seeing them: It's fall now and most people have taken out any window fans they have. A 20 inch window fan set beside a full tower on low is an amazing cooler( side panel off of course)
That will push a 100 times the air in and out of that case and never give the vid card a chance to overheat.
ok, you can pick this old fart apart now but it does work well and the noise level is very low. Also a 20" window fan takes crap for elec on low speed and thats all you need.

OK I started this last night about 12 or so. Got one EUE but then it has been working fine since. Completed 71 steps at about 8 min per step. GPU temps have stayed around 73*C which is alot lower than I expected (I was expecting full load temps of 90*C like after gaming or something).

I've left mine running since early this morning with the beta 6.10s and latest DX build, i get roughly 73oC on GPU as well. So its not pounding the graphics card as far as I can tell... Still waiting for some results, post back later

If an XT gets around 400 ppd, would a GT get around 300?

DragonOrta, I don't think anyone really knows yet, too early to tell. But I'm no authority on this so I very well may be wrong.

Darnit though, I think the GPU client has stalled on me It has been consistently 8 minutes between steps but now it has been saying "Completed 85" for the past 20 minutes However, the CPU and GPU temps are still up there

    Ideas?

I guess I'll just wait for a week or so to see which GPU is the best cruncher for the money.

It's not stuck. According to the Pande group, the calculations are much bigger than the CPU calculations so it just takes longer. It just happens to be at that 85 mark.

Got unstuck yet Sparky or has it early ended on you? From what I read not many people are having much luck with the 2722wu/Cat 6.10 combination, but I'll let mine run again tonight & see what happens to it regardless.

Actually yes it got unstuck. Apparently it kept going but it didn't update the progress report. At the 85 mark I am assuming there were 15 marks left, and at 8 minutes per mark that would have been 2 hours left. Well two hours after the 85 mark appeared and stuck there it suddenly said "complete" and uploaded the finished results to stanford and got another WU. My guess is it just forgot to update

Currently at the 25 mark of the next WU.

As it stands I think that as long as it keeps working fine then I don't mind it running instead of the CPU client. For one thing I get more PPD with it (took about 2-3 days for the average 400-ish point WU to complete that I keep getting)

It seems 6.5's, no service and text client are the perfect combo for it just working, had no problems what-so-ever so far.

Yeah I'm using the 6.5's and text console and it has only had one EUE which I believe was caused by the 6.10 betas (started using those first)

For reference, 2.5 days for one core of my E6400 on a 2124/396pts.

Guys try deleting the fcore 10 from the folding folder. The cores are being improved all the time. When the gpu client detects no core it will download the latest version.

    Regards

OK I believe I'll do that after this WU is complete (just passed the 31 mark). Unless I won't lose my progress if I delete it now?

If it aint broke dont fix it Wait until your wu completes, then stop the client delete core and restart.
