    Boot without a CPU in?

Im still waiting on my CPU to arrive but I have the rest of an awesome Core 2 Duo build sitting here. Id like to test a few things out with my fan/temp controllers, is it safe to start with everything connected or should I just connect the few things I need to test and hotwire the PSU?

Well I am not totally sure but I don't think you could even get into the bios without a cpu. About all you might get is a few beeps.
If all you want to do is adjust the fan controllers then you can hot wire the psu with the fans and adjust away.
Does anyone know where i can get bananas like this the only ones I can get don't dance and go black after a few weeks

    Bingo....

The answer is yes you can turn it on, but you will get no video and POST beeps indicating a failed/missing CPU.

Won't hurt anything, but really not usefull for testing anything either.

no CPU = no POST so you can't set up the BIOS or anything like that. But you can operate fans and such since the power would be on.

Actualy whitout a CPU "NOTHING STARTS" - It's the thing that says: GO! (simple as that - no brain no activity).
