    patriot 5300 llk

I'm running 2GB of patriot memory that people seem to be having really good luck with around here, but it's throwing errors in memtest+ at 800 5/5/5/16 at 2.2V.

Guess what? I got frustrated and decided to give my old OCZ "won't boot on a ds3" 6400 sticks another shot and they worked! Gigabyte's F5 bios is my hero.

Now I'm chugging along happily at 425 1:1 and getting ready to throw these patriot sticks up on ebay .

I think you just have bad sticks. I have the same memory and have had it up to 946mhz with a DFI Infinity 975X and E6600. I have posted at ram speeds much higher than that. The fsb limitation of this board is definitely holding me back.

Your OCz sticks probably worked cause you bumped voltage up to 2.2.
DS3 needs 1.8v ram to boot and change vdimm

I don't think its the board I just picked up the same kit and it doesn't like more than 2.3 volts. Anything more than that and its nothing but errors. They easily do ddr800 at 1.95 volts.

lower the FSb and test with the ram on a higher divider, if it passes on a higher divider it is the OC.

at 2.1V I was running 960mhz 5-4-4-4 primeable for 1hour something... i got paranoid and went back down to 1.9V though... it's all the reading I've been doing on the dangers of OCing filling me with irrational fears.
