my issue after flashing was due to me not fully clearing the bios after the flash.
the result seems to be that some of the uguru stuff wouldn't work any longer...this included the multiplier appearing to work but not doing so in reality.
the other artifact i noticed was that a failed uguru overclock would somehow be the next boot up clock...
if a good bios clear doesn't help then maybe a reflash will
also some other setting may have been changed like your default ram timings or something.
i havn't read this whole thread but post code 25 is probably something to do with periferals like keyboard, hdd or gpu
-----------------Main Setup-----------------

Hmmm... I got rid of my scsi stuff that this board refuses to detect, and now its back to refusing to detect any IDE devices
I can only use the beta 13 bioses, anything later gives me these problem... But ill keep going, this board is worth it when everything decides to work
edit: bios 13.A11 works perfect for me
aNYONE Know what error code 09 means on this board?

Hi All,
Q6600 B3.
Cherry AW9D-MAX.
My max stable FSB = 315MHz, (on multipliers 7/8/9).
I'll mod the board over the weekend and post back with results.
Anyone tried an E6850 on this board??

Hey guys,
just put a q6600 in this mobo & i'm hitting a wall @ 320fsb. Cant get it to post no matter what i do. Tried everything, upping vcore, nb, disabling c1e & eist. Nothing seems 2 work.
Just wondering what fsb others have gotten a q6600 to.
My Rig:
Abit AW9D-Max, Q6600 Core 2 Quad (Stepping B3), Tuniq Tower 120 Cpu Cooler + Cool Laboratory Liquid Pro, 2x 1Gb Ocz Platinum PC-6400 EL XTC (4-5-4-15), 2x 36Gb Western Digital Raptors Raid 0, 2x 120Gb Seagate Barracuda SataII Raid 0, OCZ GameXstream 600W Sli, XFX 7900GT 256Mb (700/1800) 1.5V Mod + Zalman VF-700CU, Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty, Thermaltake Armour Super Tower (slightly modded & 3x 120mm Xclio 16 Blade Quiet Cooling Fans), Sony DVD-ROM, NEC DVD-RW, Logitech MX-1000 Wireless Laser Mouse & Multimedia Keyboard, Belkin Nostromo N52 Speedpad, 20.1' Viewsonic VX2025WM (1680x1050), Technics EH750 Seperates 600W 5.1 Surround System, Windoze Xp Pro & a Sh1tty Dell Printer
Lets see how far I get this beast........:p
Sorry for resurrecting this old thread, but I'm experiencing a strange problem ATM. I'm in the process of testing my AW9D Non-Max and whenever applying overclocked settings and trying to boot Memtest from an IDE CD or DVD drive, the drive disappears after saving the bios settings and rebooting. It's not that the settings would be absolutely unstable. After disconnecting the system from the wall-outlet for a second I can boot the system and the drive is back without a problem and the system runs stable. Very strange! Already contacted the support but they can't seem to reproduce my problem so far.
Did any of you ever experience this or a similar problem?
I'm using the latest Bios 15 and already tried different CPUs (E6550, Xeon 3040 and 3050), RAMs (some Micron based modules), different drives (Toshiba SD-M2012 and Benq DW1640) and a PCI video card (ATi Rage3d 4MB) ATM. Didn't try a PCI-E video card yet, though.
Update: The PCI video card problem was caused simply due to bad contact of the card. It wiggled around in the slot in the open test environment and lost contact continously when leaning sidewards.
BUT, the disappearing IDE-drive problem seems to be a problem with BIOS 15 and Memtest 1.70, as I'm not the only one experiencing this. Found someone in the Abit USA forums who had the exact same problem.

Needed new beta or mod bios because bios 15 Q6600 GO max fsb 134 and memory 268MHz
Just a little update, im back to using this board with my E7200. It works perfectly with bios 17.
Now im back to trying to figure out a good overclock. Approaching 400fsb this board is very flaky with ram, but i know that the hard limit is 430 fsb.
Since it doesnt support half multipliers, im waiting eagerly for the E7300 to come out (10x400 = 4 ghz )
Just to let anyone, who still uses this IMHO great board, know:
There is a Alpha or Beta status BIOS number 18. The file is called either aw9d_18.zip or AW9D_18.rar. Seems to be one of the last things that some Abit employees worked on. The BIOS seems to be dated around March 2009 and it looks like the major differencee is the included number of Microcodes. It's a full 187k uncompressed Microcodes in that BIOS. That should cover any available Socket775 CPU.
Me and some other people already flashed the BIOS and it seems to be stable, without any problems. Although no long-term experience here, yet.
So, maybe, with some hardware-mods it now should be possible to even run Yorkfield CPUs on the old AW9D.

celemine1Gig WoW that would be too cool.
I still use my AW9 daily. Games, Win7.
It's seen 3 new vid cards, and I keep finding ways to get more and more memory working. I've been sorta itching for 9550.This E6600 ES is past retirement age. Just dont have the $denero now daysto spring for new system 4 times a year any more
ATM, I run a Xeon X3220 G0 Kentsfield on my modded AW9D. I had to up the GTLREF voltage from the standard 0.63*VTT to 0.7*VTT (a little less would perhaps have been enough, but I wanted to be sure) to stabilize the system. Now it runs perfectly stable at stock (2.4GHz). Had no time to overclock yet, though. But the idea of getting a quadcore to run stable on that old board is probably enough. The performance boost sometimes is really huge, depending on the application. And I still have 8GB of Micron low latency DDR2 RAM. Only 4GB of it installed. Again no time to test for stability with more, ATM. I thought about getting a newer board (X38 or X48 based) quite often in the last few weeks, but always discarded the idea after a few hours. It just is not worth it, especially considering the time and money I already spent on modding my AW9D. AND: It runs stable. So why replace it? If there comes the day when it stopps working, or when it's computing power will not be enough anymore, then I'll happily get something new. But until then, I think I'll just keep my AW9D.
