After you update de bios, the first time you go to bios and save, theres a coldboot, but only after update the bios. Then you can go any time you want and no more cold boot.Originally Posted by ken
warm reboots are an issue so far and with my ES B1 stepping CPU I can't lower the multiplier down to six it's stuck at seven....taken from his link post on forums.
I ordered this board and its right here ready to be opened and installed
Can you spread out some light what you mean by that ?
“Coldboot” only when update the bios, or reset, this only happens a time after having done some thing of these.

I'm not having cold booting issues... Tictoc asked me if the board can cold boot with 440 set in the BIOS and the answer is yes... no problems with cold booting!Originally Posted by dragonhunter
Those of you hitting 440 FSB from bios can you post your bios settings & configuration. I'm not having success booting over 420FSB from bios with 9 multiplier. I can boot 435 FSB with 8 multiplier but is won't pass any tests. Must be something I'm missing. I know it not the cpu because this chip can hit 4 ghz and is 32mb Pi Stable @ 3.9ghz 440FSB X 9. Is the provided sound card any good?

have you got ram speed set to spd or manually, check the latencies...
I managed to boot at 443. Vdimm and vcore needs to be a little higher than some other boards to get the mobo to boot at high fsb. Unfortunatley I'm now using P5WDG2 Pro, so I can't give you bios screenshots. Also make sure chipset coltage is around 1.9v or more initially and has a fan blowing over it to keep it cool (helps stability). You can remove the 'MAX' plate from the chipset heatsink, so that a fan blows down into the fins, otherwise the plate blocks the air flow...

I had set my ram manually @ 4-4-4-12, & 1066 strap. I think I even set the chipset to 2.0v @ one point. Temps all @ or below 40'c. Since this board won't set voltage below 1.35v and won't display anything lower, I have to find a new max default volts overclock. My chipset seems weak or requires more volts at higher FSB's than the P5W. For example 367FSB & all vcore setings at auto was my stock Overclock. This board requires 1.60v mch to be set or it fails orthos in seconds. Currently running 2.0vdmm 1.60v mch & 1.35vcore for 3.4ghz so far orthos stable. I love the way the boarld looks inside my case. The blue LEDS go well with the NZXT Lexa blue case fans & blue razor mouse. I'm just not sure of the audio. Looks as though this will be a solid game platform if the audio holds up.Originally Posted by raju

I am finding on my retail board that a setting of 2.0V for the MCH is actually around 1.89V real when measuring it.Originally Posted by The Nemesis

UPDATE: Okay now I seemed to have gotten rid of the "CPU isn't workable, or has changed message" even though I didn't even intend that what I did would solve it. I was getting annoyed with the blinking LED's so I rebooted, went into BIOS and set LED to "ALL ON" instead of "Mode 1" which it was previously on, saved settings, and voila message is gone. Rebooted again to make sure I wasn't seeing things, and yep the message is gone. Strange board this is. As far as messing with ram timings, I'm not going to mess around anymore since I'm tired, and pretty light headed (seeing that message about my cpu the first time almost made me faint).
Edit: First message given was "CMOS checksum error, loading defaults" and then "CPU isn't workable, or has changed" every other boot after the first. Now updated to the Beta 12 Bios, and the "CMOS checksum error, loading defaults" came up again, haven't rebooted yet so not sure if the second message shows up. Also ram is still at 667.
Luckily my board isn't DOA, but it gives me a message "CPU isn't workable, or has changed" or something like that, but it still boots into Windows after I press F1, and core temp is reading 34C on both cores... my ram has been slowed down to 667 though, its G.Skill DDR2-800 2Gb dual channel PK series. Also I didn't do a fresh install of XP, just booted it up as if it was still installed when I had the Badaxe in the rig. Lastly I didn't update the BIOS to that Beta 12 yet... but wtf is up with that CPU not workable message?
Another thing, theres a red LED lit up next to the IDE port, also took some pics of the message but can't find the damn usb cable... but the code it also gave was "7F" if that gives more clues... computer seems fine, hopefully theres no issue, just trying to get XP activated though it was already... I en hate Msft.

@TicTac - this beta bios posted on delux change problem with 4:5 on 400MHz FSB ?
Update : 420x9 still 1.75vmch

Thanks, but you know I cannot mod my board, well, not the blue one anyway.Originally Posted by tictac

roro:doesen't cpu-z krystal allow you higher multi settings?
So Abit says the board delivers 2.0v on the mch and it's actually 1.85v real?
Hmmm.
Yeah the boards nice an all but it certainly doesn't clock better the p5w dh. On the other hand I lost 3 mhz on my max 3DMark stable/Gaming overclock using the board so it's not really a big deal. I'm gonna stick with it as far as my gamer goes. It looks nice in the case. Unfortunately I'm gonna loose 300 mhz on my everyday overclock because the board won't due 3.6ghz orthos stable @ the same settings the P5W DH will & it runs alot warmer trying.Originally Posted by malficar

Disappointing. I was wanting to try an E6600 in one of these and I guess I'll fall back on my old P5W DH D or just drop it in this P5B.Originally Posted by The Nemesis
