This shutting down on reboot problem when overclocking on other boards, is this solved in this bios with tRD / read delay and Row refresh cycle / Trc in this bios options ? If yes, I don`t get it why companies like asus don`t implent that in the deluxe versions of p5w and p5b

My P5B DL has this problem if I change just the date, lol. Good to hear, now I won't cringe everytime I restart the computer to change a setting in the bios.

My 6600 could only reach 400 fsb with a 9x multi. The beta bios bumps that up to 405 at 9x. I think its my cpu thats falling short though. This same cpu couldnt get over 389 on a p5b deluxe.

Received an updated SPD from Geil today for 1:1 operation on this board. Hopefully Abit will get a new bios spin out shortly to address these 1:1 memory compatibility issues.

It's not Abit's fault reprogramming SPD on two sets of memory fixes the problem, more likely the memory company's problem to me.

Nice results! Do you think most E6600s/boards will hit that high? I'm looking for a board for retail E6600! Thanks,

Anyone ran Team memory on this board? Sucks if I run into issues.

Does it use D9 chips? If so, you should'nt be facing any problems.

Unconfirmed reports say this board will do 450FSB with no mods, up to 470 with some changes in cooling. My board will arrive from Newegg tomorrow. We will have a better Idea after then what the retail boards can do with no mods. My P5W DH does 450FSB but only 1 Mb Pi stable. 440-445 FSB is 3d & 32Mb Pi stable but thats with 1.85v mch. This board stands to be the best/fastest overclocking 975X board available. Unfortunately dual graphics & with better sound card combinations are limited due to the location of the pci slot next to the pci-e slot.

I have had GSkill, Geil, OCZ, SuperTalent, TEAM, and A-DATA memories fail at 1:1 or post very strange results. The only high end memory that has worked flawlessly at 1:1 is Corsair without SPD updates or newly (as in the last week or so with revised SPDs) released memory modules. This issue has been reported to Abit several times over the last month and other early users of this board have reported the same problems. I am testing the DRR2667/800 selections from several suppliers now which appears at first glance to be in better shape but not perfect. On a side note, dump the bios and take a look at it.

p.s. Those same modules having the issues at 1:1 operate perfectly on the Foxconn, MSI, DFI, and Asus 975X boards.

1.95V on the MCH, depending upon your board it might be anywhere from 1.8x to 1.9x real.
My board is locked at 460FSB, it simply refuses to boot over 460 but I have a red board, retail arriving tomorrow.

@The Nemesis: your P5W DH seems to do the same as mine (440ish), but mine doesnt have the 1.85v option in bios, is one of the very first P5W (S/N 123XXXX). I have tried it with 2.1v @ MCH and a E6600ES Dry Ice cooled, and I got stuck at 465x9... It seems to me that the problem was the CPU, because the mobo wasnt vdroop modded, still have to try max FSB with something nearly to 2v.
When you get your AW9 from newegg post here your results and impresions, I am thinking seriously in changing my Asus for this Abit.

@ bingo13: have you tried SetFSB or Clockgen to raise FSB more than those 460?? (if there is any version avalaible)
Why do you say "A red board retail arriving"? It is supposed to be better than the Blue ones?? Sorry for those n00b questions...

The "red" he's talking about means its the prerelease version/sample with red & black dimm slots. The retail board had blue and black.

I have a pre-release board or looking at it another way, a production board with the wrong colors. The blue/black combo is the retail offering. My board sample will power off at 461 or above.

Did the red/black come with fans? I forget what the other differences in the fatal1ty versions are.

I've got the corsair pc8500 2gb kit running on this board and i havent had any problems at 1:1. I was even considering returning this memory because of the relative stability i was experiencing and just grabbing some ddr800 capable kit.

I just want to get a handle on what problems you may be experiencing. Is it a no boot or no stability in windows thing?

I'm afraid you misunderstood him. The sample boards, like the one coolaler has, were red/blackish. They're pretty much the same except some PLL chip like the retail boards. Just that the retail is blue/black instead of red/black

Nothing to do with the Fatality board.

My issues have been a no-boot situation at 1:1, no issues at 4:5, or if they booted I could not overclock very far. The Corsair 6400C4, 6400C3, 8500C5, and Dominator are the only high end modules I have tested without (not requiring a SPD update or new modules) an issue so far at 1:1. About half of the DDR2-800 sticks I have tested (including suppliers that had PC8000+ that did not work) are okay so far. The last two SPDs from OCZ and Geil have really worked out well on this board. I am not knocking the performance, just compatibility has left me concerned at this point, certainly nothing that a bios update cannot fix as the beta already improved several module issues.

    Update-
Mushkin Redline XP28000 works at 1:1.
