Actually, it's AI Suite that was monitoring the VDimm, I just assumed that PC probe also reported the VDimm. Sorry for the confusion.

hey moonraker, have you ever tried shooting for 402mhz FSB, the NB strap loosens there and you could gain alot more mhz, your NB might just be craping out between 390-400, and thats whats holding you back.

Im not 100% on that, but it may be worth a shot.

    Temps?

You guys that are getting temps in the high 30s and low 40s??? What kind of cooling are you using? I havent been able to get less than 50 c using stock or aftermarket. Right now I am using a Coolermaster Vortex TX and I still get 50s at idle. I am using artic silver 5 too. is there a better HS/Fan out there I should be using?

OK. Here's my first posted overclock. I have most of my BIOS settings as in the op. I haven't figured out yet how to have multiple instsnces of CPU-Z running at the same time, I suspect you just have to have multiple copies in different folders. I'm covering up a mid 14's SPi 1M, everything else of interest is visible, except the fact that it's an E6600. I have 3.51 GHz stable (I have run Orthos for up to 3 hours, not 100% proof positive of stability I realize, but a good start), 3.6 GHz either flunked Orthos or had random restarts at all VCores up to 1.525. I'll get a better ss and post it later.

Hmmmmm...seems that when I've tried this, it returns a message saying that cpu-z is already running. I'll have to try it!

Here's my best 100% stable oc for the time being. I am pretty much a noob at this, and I can probably do better with more time and learning more, but I am pretty happy with this as a first attempt. Most BIOS settings are as in the op, the NB, SB, and FSB voltages are all 1 step above default.

I tried 3.6 GHz at vcore up to 1.525, memory at 4:5 4-4-4-12, 4:5 5-5-5-15, and 1:1 4-4-4-12 and either flunked orthos or had random restarts. I may try to break the 3.6 GHz barrier again if I get brave enough to use more volts.

Funny thing is - I just checked my E6400 with the Asus AI Suite, and it shows my CPU voltage in the 1.5 range. in the BIOS its set to AUTO.

I didn't install AI Suite until after I hit the 400FSB mark, and CPUZ shows the voltage at 1.213 now. So somewhere along the lines, the board is raising the voltage all on its own.
I have no other items (ie: MCH) overvolted. Memory is running at 2.1 volts.

It's all the usual. Vanderpool / C1E etc. Disabled.

But I have PCI-E running at 105 and all extra perhipials disabled. i.e. Wireless card (which I have unscrewed and taken off), firewire and floppy. <- gives a slightly faster boot too.

Memory timings are a bit slacker than the ones stated on first page though, although I think these GeIL's would do lower with ease.

not recommended to keep vcore @ auto. your cpu is getting over 1,5V for sure.

AUTO means mobo will try to raise volts automatically to support your overclock and it seems to use a little more than necessary. CPUZ misreports voltage and should be ignored for that reading.

    Guys....I DID IT!!!

after 2 bad/burned boards, PSU issues, yada yada yada, I finally was able to achieve this!! e6300 conroe over air:

I'm at 50C under no load, so I'm not liking that, so I think for everyday 24/7 use, I will drop down to just 3.0ghz, and drop the Vcore from 1.4875 to 1.475.

thanks to everyone for all their guidance and help!!! you guys rock!

Here is what I'm getting in PCMark05 (one of my favourite benchies )without seeing this guide, only came across it just now.

How can I go higher with 9x multi on my E6600 B2 stepping with only 1.65v avaliable on the MCH in bios v706 beta ? or is this the limit ? I only have 1.3v for FSB and 1.60 for Southbridge. I only wanna use air cooling for system so don't want too much voltage.

    http://service.futuremark.com/compare?pcm05=491207

Signature? are you kidding? with new stuff coming out every day, why bother ?

    @ IluvIntel

You're using 1.65v to CPU to get that?

I seem to halt on 400FSBx9 can't go no higher. That's on 1.45v, I put it to 1.5v and still no. So maybe it needs a huge jump?

    I'm currently running 430*8 on 1.46v 1:1 ratio mem @ 4-4-4-12 on 2.1v w/tuniq tower. That's for daily use (ÜBER stable in BF2) w/ 7900GT @ 580mhz core and 895 mem clocks.

I think I may have to go to 1.55v to bench hard to try to get 3.7ghz stable.
