This is really amateur GUIDE! Setting maximum of all system voltages is only fore REAL noobs! Settings 120MHz of PCIExpress totally destruct your Raptor RAID 0. This is for nothing, my 5 years daughter can set BIOS same way like in this "GUIDE".

Thanks, I really appreciate your bashing me for trying to provide some simple guidance to those that need a nudge in the right direction. As I stated, this post was never intended to be a complete solution to overclocking. Please pass on my congratulations to your daughter on her fine accomplishments. I'm sure she'll make us all proud.

When you get your 6300 running at 3.7 GHz, then come here and criticize someone else's overclock. If you have nothing to add to the thread, why don't you just shut up?

    GOURANGA! - AT LAST! 3ghz.

Before people decide to slate me for only 3ghz, you have no idea how many problems I've had with this thing!!! - But I'm one happy geezer now!

Thanks so much FCG.... now to see what else I can get.

BTW, is 39c idling good with that? I have it @ 1.4v and memory at 2v. It is kinda warm in here but still. It's my monitor. It's as hot as hell (bloody's NEC's!)

Asus wouldn't provide the option if their cooling solution wasn't adequate. The last thing they want is for you to RMA your board because of a setting that they intentionally provided....get what I'm saying?...

Thanks for the tips... I am a first time overclocker, and although I have read many posts around here, I still appreciate a simple guide like this to get started with my P5B Deluxe.

    great thread man...thanks!

this is what I will start with...got the following arriving tomorrow:

    e6300
    P5B deluxe Wifi-AP
    Crucial Ballistix DDR2-800 PC6400 2x1GB
Scythe Infinity SINF-1000, with 120mm fan
    2 WD SATA 250Gb drives

my goal is conservative: get 3.0ghz with cool temperatures and completely stable for 24/7 operation....will be right beside my bed for TV, multi-media work, etc.

    I find this guide ok.
btw.. the new bios rocks.. my E6300 goes 400*7 on stock cooling @ 53 degree idle... not some fancy air cooling (saving up for getting my waterrig running again)
507 I would have temps 7 degree higher, and not a stable system.. with 6.14 I can run one prime, and keep it below 65 degree.. and have no stability problems.
is I know this is a rather noob guide, and you have to look into all your rig to se what it can handle..
but it's a ok guide. helped me out.. I've been OC'ing since thunderbird hit the light, but haven't owned INTEL since p133. so a guide on intel rocks.
    thanks for the guide.

On My P5B Dlx WiFi and E6600- no post with Gskill HZ (after clear cmos for example)
I must chanche memory to 2x256 Micron and set timings 4-4-4 and Vmem (2,25 for sure)
    Strange mobo ...
    Wish You luck

ok, this aint as stoopid as it sounds! - can latest bios (0614 is it?) still get (theoretically) max 650 FSB? - I guess what I'm asking is, is it just as good as 0507? especially for OCing.
It was a long road and one that is now over. Behold the updatedrig:

Just looked, I'm idling @ 37°c on 3ghz (335*9) which is cooler than my CPU was @ 2.88ghz... strange. Either way thanks to this guide I'm over my griped. Now to see what I can get.

Is there a gain fsb wise from running the last one at 13? I ran 0-9-4-9 with 2*512 and now 0-10-5-10 on 2*1024.

What's a pro guide then? Set all stock volts and OC 5%, then run orthos for 72 hours to make sure it's stable? Give me a break. Only reason the guide has them to the max in BIOS is because you need to vmod to get real voltages

Still only 1.4v to CPU and 2v to memory:
