This my first overclock and build and I think I have reached the limit (sweetspot) of my system.

    475 FSB NBCC at 9/7*475=610
    Ram Voltage: 2.25 4-4-4-12
    Vcore: 1.3875 ( 1.37 with Vdrop)
    FSB Termination: 1.40
    NB Core: 1.45
    Sb Vcore: 1.50
    ICH Voltage: 1.057

I tried 490 (unstable), 500, 510 without a post. I think my northbridge is at it's limit ~610. I tried 450X8=3.5Ghz, but i needed >1.52 Vcore and it still could not run Orthos for five minutes, and it was getting HOT! I was stable at 390X9, but I am under the impression the faster the FSB, the faster your system.
Great site with lots of info!!

I agree, my best performance is @ 399. It is stable dispite all the problems I have heard about at this level. I wanted to stay on the 1067 strap. I tried 450 and it was slower. This is as high as I can go with air cooling. Now what??
I tried my Ram at (4:5) but it was not all that stable; plus I had to really increase the voltage.

    vFSB: 1.40
    vNB: 1.45
    vSB: 1.50
    vICH: Auto

I ran Orthos for 1/2 hour and then I stopped it. I'll let it run some other time.

Hey, Srry to kick this topic

first of all im new to XS so Hey to everybody =)
second, i got the E6600 & P5B deluxe (wifi) aswell, runned couple months @ 3ghz, but past days i carried on overclocking again

So ive readed lets say 8-9 pages of this thread, and i know whats the strap and thing all about now.
    Now i run my E6600 @ 3.42ghz on 380Mhz x 9 (1.34v-1.37v)
Now, I wanted to reach 3.6Ghz, it couldnt be so hard whit this cpu being at low Vcore for high FSB's. But i can't boot @ 390fsb-400fsb for some reason.
I have to try 401FSB (wich i'll do today) But the main question
Will 3.42ghz on 380Mhz x 9 be slower/faster then 401Mhz x 9? It's all about memory ive read.. so i dunno about main performance then (gaming).
dunno if its necessary, my ram is 3gb Kingston/Corsair PC5300 valueram@400mhz+

    Thx

You need to know..............it is a man in that picture. If you like men, thats fine, but if you like women, you have made a huge mistake

LAZER - yeah 401 may be slower than 380 - 390. I have read you need to be over 430 ish to make up for the looser strap. You'll have to test it.

Thx, Il Try to run 8X Multi @Set it at 425FSB-450FSB if its true.
and isnt 400FSB Hard 4 the northbridge Cause ur @the end of the first strap..?

Thats not what i'd expect to see - i'd have thought 401 would have been slower. Try 402, if its faster again keep going up till you get a decrease in performance - thats when the strap changes. Try 424 FSB, then 425 FSB, it could change there.

And did we find out if the newer BIOS's changed this number?
Up to 400 its the 1066 strap
From 401 up its the 1333 strap
However on the P5N32-SLI it changes at 425 (424 top end of 1066, 425 is start of 1333)
There is no 1600 strap implemented yet for any board.

You should try these settings, if ur CPU can take it. its better than 400FSB of course.

Im having trouble finding out whats true, one place people write 400 Fsb is best, other places that 401 is best.

So can anyone explain me where the strap change occurs?

    400 or 401?

And wheres the best performance to be had?

From what I read, the strap change is at 401. I'm running at 425 personally.
