help overclocking e6400, can't go over 358 FSB!

    Hi
I have reached to 2868 mhz, FSB 358.5, memory voltage 2.1, cpu voltage 1.384, but can't go further than that, the system doesn't boot... what should I do to do that? Please look at the attached image .... I use P5B duluxe wifi AP.
and another issue, as you see in the image, cpuz shows my ram as 5300, but it is actually 6400, 800 mhz. why is that? any help would be appreciated...
and I have done the overclocking in BIOS, not by the asus software...

Set FSB 401MHz and it should boot. Quite a known bug of P5B DLX.

I did what you advised, but it didn't boot...
out of interest...which good program can I use to test stability at every stage after overclocking?

I agree. Try using a lower divider or run your memory at the 667 or 533 Mhz setting.

Have you tried more vCore and vMCH? As FSB increases you will need more vCore (and of course more vMCH). Use the Core Temp program to gauge how hot your CPU is so as not to damage it.

I had problems with the FSB wall on my ASUS board as well so if more voltage doesn't work, maybe try the following.

    See here.

Or, to cut a long story short.

Try setting your tRD RAM timing to 7 and try that. If that doesn't fix it by itself, leave tRD at 7 and use an fsb that will boot to windows. Use memset 2.1 to raise your tRFC RAM value to around 40 (I use 42) and apply it. Now use the windows ASUS Ai Booster program to gradually raise your FSB (try 10mhz steps).

If you can set tRFC in BIOS even better.

    Hope that helps.

The thing is that I can't find vMCH and trfc in the BIOS. I have upgraded to version 0507. Can anyone please tell me where can I find them in the BIOS?

how can I change to 667 or 533? in the bios I see no less than 700. How can I lower the divider?

The figure in BIOS for memory speed is adjusted for whatever FSB you choose. He was refering to those figures as from 266. So if you are on FSB 358, and RAM ~716, then that is the same as FSB 266; RAM 533.

ok I am stable now at 2880, 8x360 FSB. Here is my settings:

    e6400 @2880
    FSB: 8 x 360
    Cpu voltage: 1.352
    memory voltage: 2.15
    FSBRAM ---> 1:1, 5-6-6-18
    spd: enabled
    temp: idle 41C, load 47C

but I can't go higher. My temps are ok and I just don't know how to go higher. I can't find vMCH, where is that? I have looket at many threads here but haven't been able to find a solution. I have tried multi 7, but it doesn't work. I have tried to raise the vcore to 1.5, but no help either. Please help me to get my system to 3.2 at least!
I use p5b duluxe wifi, and geil 1 gb 6400 ( but my cpuz shows at as 5300 )

some ppl around got same "random-fsb-wall" problem... mine p5b-d stuck @ 435 exactly (and Raz2133 have same wall value), one other guy can't go over 390 (on russian o/c forum).

I dont really know what to think, but I feel the urge to get board back to the shop and ask for replacement... just can't figure out what would I say to the sale person "umm, sorry, I can't o/c my board twice of the standard clocks for cpu".. doh..

    ok guys...
    I have reached 2976
    FSB: 8x372
    vcore: 1.4
memory voltage: 2.2 on asus probe, and 2.25 in BIOS
temp: 43 idle, 48 load (shown on Probe)

it was stable in 2 mb super pi test... haven't tested higher yet...

isn't 2.2 too high for vdimm? My memory sticks are geil 2x512 6400 (shown as 5300 in cpuz ). in the manufacturer's spec I read that it is 1.8 - 2.2 . But on the stick it was recommended as 1.8 . but in the BIOS it is 2.25, maybe since there is no 2.2 in the BIOS 0507 for vdimm. what do you think, isn't it dangerous?
I tried 8x375, but it doesn't boot. please reply to this... thx

hokaro: nice clocks and temps. don't afraid of 2.2v on DIMMS, its OK.

2.25 vs 2.2 - known thing, does not matter... DIMMS wonnt fry until 2.5+.

8x375 - try to boot 401 at once, make all voltages to be "pink" in BIOS ( not red !) ecxept the CPU one. leave CPU voltage at 1.45, no more.

well, as I remember, the vdimm was red!

You should be able to safely run 1.55v on Core on a typhoon, I can run about that on a silent fan....

I've ran E6600 ES on 1.55 once... 85C idle in WinXP after boot (Zalman 9500)
