Have a L628 here, running it prime stable 3.5 ghz at 1.42v vcore, at 1.6 went to 4 ghz no problems, if higher vcore, better cooling should reach 4.2ghz at least.

what did you run @ 4 ghz to check where it stood as far as stability?

Well I've just got the chip last night, not testing at 4ghz yet but tried pushing the speed to 4.18 ghz not stable of course but boots up with no problems. Will do further testing.

My L624 sucks at oc as well, I thought it could be my mobo that couldn't push it up.

I had tried both the L627 and L628, both are wonderful clockers. Well I felt the L628 is a little better because it needed lesser vcore to push higher speed. Eg. 1.45v vcore is prime stable with 3.6ghz.

My only gripe is that BOTH the freaking chips are not flat, in fact the surfaces on both chips are concave. Thus it's causing high temps. I think Intel should be totally flamed for such production quality.

yes I'd like to see some screenshot of this 4.18 as well. That's an impressive fsb if that is true.

Thanks a lot for the replies, where did you get the chip from IceFlight? When you get time, pics would be awesome!

Sorry for the delay, haven't got time. Here's an initial shot, my idea of priming is to play a movie, surf and prime etc.....

I'm from Singapore and bought it here.

Here's a clearer shot at all voltages, needed 1.43 instead, will update later for max oc. Trying to find a 24/7 sweetspot here, could do 3.6ghz at 1.45 but temps went thru the roof already, due to the f$%king concave IHS of the chip.

    Ice Flight,

Those results and screen shots are impressive & nice, but we kinda wanted to see the 4 ghz screenies. I've passed 9 hours of orthos thus far @ 3.5ghz 1.400 Vdroop with 1.45v set in bios, so thats nothing spectacular. Can we see some 4 ghz screenies? If it won't prime, I understand, give us a 1mb pi or something. Just would like to see 4 ghz +

    Got this one today:

BUT im having some issues with me P5B..... What happens:

    1) No post but everything on (cd/dvd/hdd/fans etc) LCD stays black/off
    2) Post, cpu overclock failed message (while running stock) and bios hangs after few seconds.
    3) Boots into windows but freeze after a few minutes.

Tried both me corsair XMS2 6400 and a single dimm no name 533. Bios 0502/0507/0609. 1:1, divider, SPD auto and manual: 4-5-5, 5-5-5 etc. Set vdimm 2.1/2.2v. Switched cpu, ram, cards, psu, hdd, cd/dvd everything.... Stil a no go. Some more searching to do . Hope to get it up & running soon, want to know what it wil do

ya, true - so far haven't seen a 28 better than the handful of 27 posts that have been out there (on numerous forums). Guess we'll know for sure in the coming week or so

Ya, I want to know whether the Week 27 is a gem week, or if 28+ will continue to improve.

1.29??! Is that a correct reading and is it more than bench stable? That's lower than stock voltage for the E6600....
