    More stuff to try

Symptoms: No POST, just power on, then powers itself off, then powers itself on, but never posts. Since the machine does get past the self-test, I never see anything on the screen. . . .
Did you unplug all your drives and pull all the other cards?

Be sure the BIOS jumper is on the right pins if you had moved it to clear the BIOS.

Try moving your video card to the other slot. Make sure video card power is connected/reseat.

Try reseating the power cables to the mb.

    Try a different video card.

Try another power supply if you have one.

With all that done and it still wont boot in min config, it could be the board is dead. Could be CPU, but I doubt it.

    So far
    1) C.P.R does not work (as on p. 2-22)
    2) Clear RTC RAM (p. 2-22) does not work
    3) memory reseats, etc. do not work
    4) put OS in the CD, just in case, does not work.

oh well, i'll have to check it out in detail when i move the connection to the other room tomorrow.
Well the lan on the PCI-E bus(top) is working so thats good and the other one cant detect the cable- it might have to do with fixing the pci at 33.33, while the pci-E is now at 100 instead of 110 from before..

Not that I know of, it's no official so no changelog. Let's hope an official BIOS will be released soon.

Same with bios 0908 too. I wish it would show correctly. I can't imagine it would be very hard for them to fix this.

I've gone to a Intel pci card a couple of boards ago to eliminate any on board lan issues, so I haven't used mine, but if they are failing this much then something is very wrong somewhere and asus should respond.

I wish these mobo companies wouldn't take advantage of their customers as much. Some people paid $200+ retail for these things and there are some stupid problem they just won't fix. They need to bring their reps to the forums and find out what's wrong with their boards.

Mine is the top lan that is not working ...
My router show it constantly changing from half to full duplex and from 10mb to 100mb
Bottom lan seems to be doing fine.

    Cheers !

Actuallt i posted the problems ive experienced with 3 asus boards on their forum and sent a mail to asus but no response yet and i paid close to 300$ with swedish tax. Wouldnt mind paying 300 for a board that works as it should with decent support but 2 rma's in 6 weeks and no suport is to freaking much !

I had the 1X issue resolved for 59 days 12 hours and 22 minutes.:
then I changed the ram to the second dual channel slot for no reason what so ever and here we go again.
    1X

I guess when you do find something that works
    leave the thing alone

    3rd RMA!!!!

WTF is with asus!? the bios flashing works half the time, 1/4 of the time u can clear the cmos with the jumper, the other 1/4, well the board's history....
checked all my stuff on my other build. runs perfectly. Now all i did this time was change my memory back to spd timings. now when i save changes, the board dies. i don't think it'll ever wake again...

    PB5-DeCrap?

I am still waiting for my 1st RMA from NewEgg for my PB5. I hope its the last RMA for this board I have to deal with.

Seems there are more people having trouble with this board the longer it has been out. Mine was toast after only 2 months. I know a ton of people swear by them, I find myself swearing at it.

Sad thing is, I exchanged a DS3 for this turd because I had trouble with the on board sound and had to eat 15%.

No problems here yet...I have had mine since mid-August.

Of course I am out of the country right now. No doubt having said that, when I get back my system won't boot...
