What's wrong with 0804? I'm running it stable here. What are your settings at? Have you read this: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=115217

Also take a look at this: http://www.thetechrepository.com/showthread.php?t=41

    Good luck.

    Don't use 0806, that's not for p5b deluxe

It seemed like you didn't know what you were doing. Weren't you upping the voltage on it? What was stock voltage on those?

And allendales generally hit 500fsb better than any of the conroes, what multi are you using? bet its not 3.6ghz on 400fsb 4:5 DDR2 1000 you cant beat that with your setup in anything. So its a lil ignorance on your part to say that just because your running 500 1:1 on an allendale that you will smoke anyone using a 400 4:5. Id like to see your benches compared to mine.
Don't get all huffy Chaos. I'm comparing apples to apples in an objective sense here. I have enough money I could have gotten any processor I want. I get a kick out of getting the highest % overclock over stock that I can. My ram is holding me back from 100% now, but that may change. My point was not "my processor is better than your processor." My point was with the SAME processor, a higher (significantly higher that is) fsb is more important than 4:5 ram. That is why I run mine at 500fsb with worse ram than at 400 with better. That's all I'm saying.

Other than that, saying your e6600 will beat mine in cpu benchmarks is like saying Mr. T would kick my a$$ in a fight. Well, no s**t, but that isn't a fair fight now is it?

I was merely lashing out at your generalization Generally helps to state what is used in your comparisons to avoid confusion. Generalized that you would "smoke anyone" there was no reference to what setup they had just a generalization that your 500 1:1 would smoke a 400 4:5. Was just pointing out the error of the post no hard feelins

    Hi guys,

Anyone know when SoundMAX / Asus will be releasing any new Audio drivers for this board?

Sound crackling is starting to drive me insane, also is there anything wrong with the way these drivers output the midi sounds?

Cos they sound a LOT different to my old Realtek drivers, both at default settings!

Asus had a slew of new bioses for a bit there, they have since slowly tapered off their output of them. Either they working on something big or just have toned down the fixing of the P5B you should just get a standalone sound card and save yourself the hassle of the onboard nightmare that slows booting and has weird issues.

    Yes I think too ......

    yesterday I try my memory,
    home I have 2*1 Geil and yet 2*1 kingston HyperX CL4 750 - this run much users about 940 with 5-5-5-15 2,1V - good price / OC
I try first set this kingston, set 5-5-5-15-6-42-6-13-13-10 2,1V with this set I set divider in bios 667 and go up to memory 940 (first test) and orthos run good without errors after 4 hours with divider 667 !!!
so than i take out kingston and give in P5B this Geil
    cmos reset,
set in bios values as for kingston, first try basic timing 4-4-4-13-6-42-6-13-13-10 , again divider 667, memory try test in real 402Mhz DDR 802 - but orthos after few s. errors and stoped,
than try 5-5-5-15-6-42-6-13-13-10 - again orthos errors
last 4 values try change 6-10-10-10 or 12-15-15-15

do not know why with kingston is all Ok nad with Geil not

So help me with set Geil......

    Asus updates

As far as I can tell this is totally typical of Asus - when they get a #1 board out, they are mad with the updates until their next big board comes out. Right now they have the Strike and soon the Commando.

I think they are probably working on Vista drivers too...So, I'm guessing at the end of January we will see a slew of new drivers.

BTW, if you run Vista (and who's not tempted) DO NOT install the SoundMax drivers. They are even more fubar than in XP. Microsoft's are a ton better.

Yes, 7x500 1:1 is going to be faster than 8x438 4:5 in some cases.

However, that's mainly due to NBCC speeds being so much higher.

I suspect some real world appz might be better @ 8x438 4:5.

Here's a few real world 1:1 vs. 4:5 tests i did on my P5B-D btw:
    http://forums.anandtech.com/messagev...&enterthread=y

    Copied from there:

    Specs:
    E6300 @ 2807 MHz (7x401)
    P5B Deluxe
    Team Xtreem
    X1900 XT stock

For these quick benches, i ran:
    7x401 (2807 MHz) 1:1 DDR2-802 (4-4-3-4)
    or
    7x401 (2807 MHz) 1:1 DDR2-802 (3-3-3-4)
    or
    7x401 (2807 MHz) 4:5 DDR2-1002.5 (5-5-5-4)
    or
    7x401 (2807 MHz) 4:5 DDR2-1002.5 (4-4-4-4)

Results were averaged from a few runs

    SuperPI 4M

Q4 bench 800x600 high quality AA/AF off SMP enabled
    1:1 (4-4-3-4) - 97.91 fps
    1:1 (3-3-3-4) - 99.53 fps
    4:5 (5-5-5-4) - 100.85 fps
    4:5 (4-4-4-4) - 102.4 fps

    WinRAR bench multithreaded
    1:1 (4-4-3-4) - 1184 KB/s
    1:1 (3-3-3-4) - 1225 KB/s
    4:5 (5-5-5-4) - 1283 KB/s
    4:5 (4-4-4-4) - 1326 KB/s

FEAR 800x600 0x AA 2x AF everything maxed
Min - Ave. - Max fps

    1:1 (3-3-3-4) - 55 / 111 / 229.33
4:5 (5-5-5-4) - didn't bother with. FEAR's results are too inconsistent for my liking
    4:5 (4-4-4-4) - 55.33 / 112.67 / 233.33

    UT2k4 Primeval 1024x768 no AA/AF

    1:1 (3-3-3-4) - 356.33 seconds
    4:5 (5-5-5-4) - 375.00 seconds
    4:5 (4-4-4-4) - 366.33 seconds
I'm not so sure how accurate these are though, since even though i ran a couple/few runs for each, the results were somewhat all over the place.

    DVD Rebuilder + CCE 5-pass Rome s1dvd1 DVD9 to DVD5 re-encoding

Yeah... with regards to the sound drivers...

I ended up having to disable my front mic in order to get the volume high enough for people to understand me. Mic boost, etc... did not help. The only problem with that is, I use a headset, so I can only plug the earphone jack into the front... soooo... i had to split the wires, plugging one into the back and one into the front. It works, but it is definitely kindof silly.

Does anybody know anything about why the front port won't just freakin work at a proper volume?

Oh yeah and one more thing... this one is wierd.

I tried to tweak my ram timing at 1000mhz (spec is 5-5-5-15 etc) and couldn't get things to pass 2-3 passes memtest. So, I decided, "What the heck, I'll just run at 'by spd' and see what happens." So I try that, and all the sudden I can memtest all night, no prob.

The wierd thing is, if I look at my RAM timings with "by spd" enabled using CPUz or memset, it tells me... 4-4-4-12 ?!?!

Considering it wouldn't pass at 5-5-5-15 that is just plain wierd. And the ram spd settings at 500 mhz are supposed to be 5-5-5-15, so why would the BIOS set it to 4-4-4-12? Or is the windows software just wrong? Anybody seen anything like this?

    Meh,

Anyone else having problems with the P5B and the new X-Merridian or b_ensipirer cards ? BF2 on hardware excel is stuttering to no end, bluegears tell me they have had no problems with bf2,

I most likely will NOT be buying another Asus board. What good is massive overclocking if the strap sucks and I can't run 400Mhz and 4:5 ..... thanks a lot asus.
