    abit AW9D/Max announced

abit announced their new AW9D series today. Link

Mark, a bright new star in the abit engineering department, says: "I really like abit's µ Guru overclocking features on this board and playing with the engineering samples I've managed to OC to 470 FSB using a 6800XE Core™ 2 Duo. The BIOS has plenty of options for adjusting FSB, tweaking voltages and controlling stability. It's truly an amazing overclocking motherboard ... I love it!"
Let's see if this board can do what Mark, the bright young star promises
Also interesting: both boards come with official quad core support.

Board layout looks okish to me, just a minor flaw - the molex connector in the upper left corner on this pic doesn't seem well placed.

Looking forward to see results soon

    How very very interesting....
    µGuru, Supports ATI CrossFire™,
    Supports Nvidia dual Graphics.
EDIT: link removed. Wasn't paying attention and just copied it. It says it right in the pop up. If you go to the link you posted then click the discription, it says it right there.

That link doesn't work, it's some Java thing.

AW9D-MAX's product specs say "Supports Dual PCI-Express X16 slots (dual ATI® CrossFire™ Graphics)". Nothing about SLI support

I have a feeling this thing is going to be a great board. From the looks of it, with solid capacitors and all, it seems to be the best built board i've ever seen from Abit. Can't wait to see it available!

Poor layout - where is the 2nd PCI slot? Is this a mATX board, and if not, why it is so poorly laid out compared to others. I would buy it for the potential but I couldn't work with my peripherals on it.

indeed, the layout is pretty strange, I'd thought they would have had some feedback with the AB9 layout, obviously not

PCI slots are near-worthless, leave them alone.

The boards advertised as crossfire or nvidia dual gpu capable, which means you can use two nvidia cards for outputs, but not run in sli mode (for now at least).

That's a damn good news to me. I'm running a 7900GX2 on Sapphire Grouper as we speak, and it's not compatible. Having heavy 3D issues.

Don't tell me to get a USB wireless card either. I'm sorry, but I think 2 PCI slots isn't too much to ask for, especially as pretty much all other manufacturers have managed it - it's not as if we are lacking in space on the boards - some have 7 slots! I have a PCIe SATA RAID card, so luckily I wouldn't need one of those to occupy the PCI slot but I can see people being steered away from this board solely on the PCI slot count.

Not all mobos have wireless access point (does this?)

Sound = Use digital out onboard to a reciever

wireless = Do not pull this "ZOMG I NEED XFI FOR GAMING, on wireless stuff"

Use a simple bridge from ethernet to wireless, or what he suggested...

TV cards are even PCI-e now, go search newegg...

    PCI 2.2 is LEGACY

Its like comming here and complaining how this extreme 300$ motherboard does not have enough Serial or Parallel ports for you...

Don't tell me to get a USB wireless card either. I'm sorry, but I think 2 PCI slots isn't too much to ask for, especially as pretty much all other manufacturers have managed it - it's not as if we are lacking in space on the boards - some have 7 slots! If you keep complaining, then slack axxes like Creative will keep making craptastic PCI only products...

If you want Legacy go buy Asrock.

What do you think a XFI sounds like with all that stuff on *ONE* PCI bus -> It will pop, crackle, snap, and just suck.

I cant imagine how bad it would be with a PCI SATA raid card alone (you really think your card will be faster than the Intel Raid? LOL?)

If you were serious about raid enough to bash the onboard stuff, you would have PCI-X

A good external Amplifier and digital onboard sound works fine.

Great looking board, except why does ABIT add only a single PCI slot? I mean who here uses PCI-X1 sound cards or anything?

    All beefy caps, excellent!

    Kerry King style board.
