Thank you mate. Appriciate your help. I like SetFSB. its saving me about 50 mouse left clicks And then i still have to lower the vcore via ET5 Why can't they make profiles in that program, that has to be the easiest thing to do .

K trying lower volt ram, per the instructions on first page, but failing that... any ideas of how i can reset the bios?
Feels like its not switching over, just stuck in a perma reset.
"that which is bright, rises twice"
Yeah, with the annoyingly-placed BIOS reset jumper under your video card.
I'm curious, where did you see 1.8? 1.8 when set to +0.3, or 1.8 when +0.1, or stock?
My DMM crapped out on me, I just got around to trying this today. I replaced the battery.. it sees 2 volts on the 12v rail and 1.3 volts on the 5v rail, but my overclock is still stable. It thinks a new 9 volt battery is about 0.5-2, so until I get a new one it'd be cool if someone found out what you're adding onto.

I just acquired an E6300, 1 GB of some nice cheap G.Skill, and a DS3 rev. 3.3
Within 20 minutes (15 of which were wasted before I realized the auto setting for the memory speed kept trying to run it way past spec) I now have it at 2.8GHz. I'm about to go run prime for stability. Any thoughts?

Hi,
I also have a problem at shutdown with this board: It always enters a powersaving state instead of switching off. The fans keep spinning, the HDDs are down and the powerled remains on (ACPI S1 or S3).
I've only used Vista with this board (rev 3.3)... is there a known issue with the F10 BIOS? It's not a Vista powerscheme config error: the powerbutton is set to shutdown and the same thing happens when I choose Shutdown from the menu and from the command prompt.
thanks!
I noticed there is a bug with this board if the power button is set to soft-off right away in the bios. I changed it to standby and softoff > 4 seconds and now the bugs have disappeared.

I see what I see, and you see what you see. I can't make you see what I see, but I can tell you what I see is not what you see. Truth is, we see what we want to see, and what we want to see is what those around us see. And what we don't see is... well, conspiracies.
I've changed the power button setting from "instant off" to "delay 4 sec" but the computer still doesn't shutdown as it should...
EDIT: Problem solved
The AHCI mode seems to be the culprit here. You can't simply turn it off after you've installed Vista so I tried updating both Vista AHCI drivers automatically. One of them switched to native IDE and now it works fine.

Hi , guys please help me !
I bought a new components ;
1- Gigabyte ds3P rev 3.3
2- E6420
3- 2x1gb geil ddr 800 ultra series
Everything is fine till 8x400 = 3200 mhz default vcore and 4-4-4-12 ,2T 2.1 v dimm .... but I can't go higher .. I'm using latest bios of DS3P>> F5 .. Can you give me a little tricks of this boards .. My target is 3400 ~ 3500 mhz .. please help ..
Thanks a lot .
I am also having the same problem with warm boots, and have also tried the +1 MCH as well as both 105 and 110 PCI-E frequency, as well as various higher and lower voltages, and it doesn't help at all, the problem persists completely.
What is happening is that the VGA goes away. The system comes back up and runs fine, just no VGA. I find that if I hard power cycle it, along with power cycle the monitor, it comes back pretty much right away.
The interesting part is that it only happens after I have run one of the HW monitors, such as SpeedFan or CPU-Z or PC Wizard. It also happens whether or not I have overclocked or not. Also, trying to run CoreTemp causes the system to crash and reboot instantly.
My setup is:
E4300
DS3 (1.3 I believe), F10 BIOS
6600 GT Dual-DVI Nvidia
2GB Kingston 667 RAM
Cooler Master case, 120mm input fan, 120mm output fan, 120mm PS output fan, 92mm fan on my Rosewill Z775 heatpipe heatsink blowing through the HS and into the 120mm output fan.
The cool thing (literally ) is that I can OC this sucker straight to 334Mhz bus x9 multiplier giving 3.004 Ghz, using 1.34375 core voltage, and according to Speedfan and PC Wizard, it runs idle at:
Temp1: 33C
Temp2: 23C
HD0: 31C
Core 0: 25C
Core 1: 25C
and running Orthos for 5+ hours, the highest I saw it at was:
Temp1: 34C
Temp2: 48C
HD0: 32C
Core 0: 48C
Core 1: 48C
So, didn't get too hot at all. Used Arctic Silver BTW.
Any other thoughts on the warmboot issue? I can't be the only one having this problem...
I forget to set the bios settings back to default before flashing to F11 bios, and now the system is constantly rebooting. Right after bios flash with qflash it said flash successful and prompts to reboot, which i did, but never got to see bios screen again. Sadly i didn't read the first page of this thread before beginning the build (d'oh!). Haven't installed recovery utility.
Base system specs:
GA-965P-DS3
E4300
PQI-Turbo DDR2-800 1GBx2
Fortron ATX400-PA
eVGA 7600GT
I tested the fsb/multi options just to see if the cpu/ram/board works, this is before os install, hdd was pre-partitioned on a different setup, ready for xp sp2 install but nothing on c:. I've removed battery and left the jumper on clear cmos pins over a day, still doing the same thing. I've also tried using generic DDR2-667, switched the pqi sticks around, still rebooting. Created a dos boot cd with flash program and bios, but it's no use, system reboots right away.
Any ideas on what's causing the reboots?
ive found if i do exactly the same overclocking procedure in f11 that i did in f7, the bios hangs and wont boot without resetting the bios, which is under the 8800gtx, and you cant get to it without taking out

i just got this board and it wont detect my ide cd drive i tired 2 different ones and i tried master slave and cable select. any bios options i need to do? any one help me please?

My PC freezes once I try to apply new clock settings via easy tune 5 and/or setfsb (v2.0 beta which surely supports the right clock generator). Along with the freeze I receive an endless whiny squeal sound. Do I have some BIOS setting wrong that screws up clocking within windows or is it something else.
I'm open for ideas and suggestions.
My first post here, although I've been around on ocau a long time. Made the switch from AMD to Intel c2duo and so far enjoying it.
Gigabyte DS3 - F11a bios
e6320 - 3.6ghz (515 x 7 ) @ 1.5v
2GB Kingston DDR800 @ 2.2v

Been a fairly painless process to get a great overclock on this chip, thermalright ultra 120 extreme probably helps.
I can't seem to squeeze anymore out of the FSB for this board. MCH is at +0.3v with Noctura nb heatsink which is warm to touch but not burn finger temp to touch like the stock nb heatsink. 515 FSB is rock solid, been Orthos's for days and memtest'd. I can push it to 535 and benchmark but it will usually become unstable after ~30minutes.
If I set the multiplier to 6x I still cannot get more FSB so I feel it's a limitation of the board. Looking around seems 510-520 is top for these boards.
Assuming the ram can handle it, I am going to attempt the MCH +volt mod from vr-systems. Anyone here done this sucessfully? Temps from coretemp never rise over ~48 so I have a little headroom as far as core voltage goes if I need it. http://sg.vr-zone.com/print.php?i=3870
p.s I too got that noise from the components on the motherboard, I believe it is just the cheapness of the components. A quick spray with WD40 and my noise almost went away entirely have to strain to hear it now.

Hi.
I'm new to this site and also to clocking.
---------------------------------------
My sys.:
E6600@3.2
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R--------BIOS F4
Corsair TWIN2X 6400, 2048MB CL5
---------------------------------------
My mems are to run at 5-5-5-12 by the specs, but bios changes them to 5-5-5-18 is this normal or should I change these manually?
My southbridge gets very hot, cant hold my finger on it's heatsink for very long, is this normal?
Which are the optimal settings in bios for functionallity and clocking?
Ok ...[Q] Why can't I overclock at all?
This issue is often mistaken with the issue below. Be sure to read this explanation.
Symptoms of no o/clocking at all (may be one, may be all):
Cannot change PCIe bus speed, after changing to anything from Auto the system resets in POST before mem testing.
Cannot change fsb because system resets as above.
Changing any V in BIOS doesn't make any difference in o/c.
Changing timing in BIOS doesn't make any difference in o/c
Changing in my mind means ex. 267fsb (stock 266), 265fsb and so on. These are slightly (and more significant) changes which cannot be done. This is not a problem of >450fsb or sth. This is a problem of no o/c at all!
This is not a problem of a fsbwall – this is not for you if you have already overclocked even a 1Mhz!
[A] There are several possible causes of this problem:
ONE - BIOS:
look below at disabling the Legacy USB storage detect option in BIOS and UPGRADE your BIOS.
TWO - VGA:
Your VGA card is probably making MB not to overclock. Try buying some crappy PCI /not PCIe/ VGA 1MB card (or 2, 4 MBs ) and putting it in, booting with only PCI VGA. It worked for me, I could overclock and when I finished I put my 7600GS inside. Everything is working quite ok If not, just try another video card but a different model.
THREE - RAM:
This is the least well known issue today. I guess... replace ram and see if it helps o/clocking... If so... just buy new sticks ;/ Sorry
well, lets see built a pc for my cousin 6 mths ago consisting of the following,
Gigabyte 965 DS3P, E4400 L2, Radeon 1950 pro, 2x1Gb OCZ System Elite 5-5-5-15, WD 320gb, Seasonic 550w, Pioneer DVD, Antec P180, XP pro Sp2
It has been running fine @2.7Ghz for last 2 months...but certain programs and such he had loaded had slowed the rig right down, put it this way, when i used it yesterday I was almost ready to re-install ...thats how bad it was to use!
So, 1st I updated latest 965 drivers from Gigabytes website, then using live update function I updated to latest beta bios.. F130 ..to easy
Now the fun started ...lets try for 3Ghz O/C ...well that was easy, 375x8, this thing was flying.... yea until i rebooted
It now would only hold a 10Mhz increase in FSB, anything more and it would default back to stock.
The reading researching began, every forum I could find, seems this board has had some big issues with not holding O/C
Tried everything mentioned in this thread exept for the replacement Video Card ....to no avail.
It wasnt until I updated the ATI display drivers that I could actually increase the FSB past my 10Mhz limit.
The only other thing that I have found to work is using the 4:5 Ram ratio (2.5 in bios), and definetly NOT using the 1:1 (2 in bios)
If it werent for cpu load temps with stock cooler hitting 85 deg C ..It can run 10x320 3.2Ghz no problem ..maybe more i didn't bother trying to add more V .
Nth bridge, FSB, and such voltages have all been set to +1
PCI-E speed set to Auto
All EIST are set to enabled.
Legacy USB storage detect option is disabled, but i dont think that matters at all.
About 6hrs later I'm using USB mouse as i type this post ...so that obviously dont matter
So there u have it, If ur stuck with a FSB wall at stock ...try the RAM ratio 2.5 setting
edit: browsing here late last night found Real Temp - New temp program for Intel Core processors
Seems dual priming this rig @3Ghz (1.375V in bios / 1.312v in cpuz after v-droop) i'm stable @60deg C

There is a cure.... it's called Prevention. .. And remember - the story being told is not always the one that best reflects reality….
I have ordered an e7200 because i was sure it will work on my ds3 rev1, fsb 1066mhz.
The cpu arrives tomorrow and now I am not sure if it will work, because gigabytes site says "N/A" in the support list, anyone have tried if this combo works? Or have seen someone elses combo liek this that worked?
