    NiSMo's Gigabyte DS3 + E6300 Adventures (or woes :()

    Ok...

well firstly im having major issues getting my system to boot... this is VERY annoying...

i am using a 1gb samsung branded stick of ram... nothing else is connected... except pci vid card and the machine boots for like 2 secs, then reboots... turns off... 2secs later turns on itself and reboots...

it doesnt do that normal system startup beep either, there is no display nothing..

i have no idea wat it is? im suspecting its the ram..

lol adventure .. lol i love the title

but anywa back to ur problem, have u tried clearing the CMOS by taking the battery out and disconnect PSU, for about 30 sec. Then put it back.

i have that issue when i set the wrong voltage for vcore, vdimm, vmch, vfsb ...

also try pushing the reset button for like 10 times really fast, then shutdown PSU and turn the comp back on. it helps sometiems.

Sounds like RAM. My OCZ stuff caused that before I temporarily swapped it out to get to POST. Then I upped the voltage and voila! Also, once you're on BIOS F4c, this problem goes away.

yep i have tried resetting the CMOS via the jumper aswell as the removal of the battery...

i will try your other suggestions like take out the psu for 30secs then plug in again but yeh i not sure wat else it could be?

I'd try a PCIe video card.

With my OCZ EL Gold (requires 2.0 volts to boot) I was able to get into BIOS with just one stick of ram (Dimm1), the processor and my X1800XT connected after resetting CMOS. It wouldn't boot with my X-Fi in the PCI slot.

interesting since the card should be pulling low amps when idle. Have you tried overclocking with a PCI card to see if it makes difference?

same probs.. i removed all pci cards except for the vga and no signal wat so ever.. no beeps no nothing..

i removed the hsf and noticed that the thermal paste was hardly touched... looks like it wasnt making contact to the cpu at all as it usually leaves some kind of mark on the cpu itself.. i reseated the hsf and same probs...

    ok,

well i have just chucked on a Zalman 7700 that i had lying around and taken my whole system out of the case and only thing connected is a pci video card and still the same thing.. i reset cmos several times and it comes down to either the bios being the very first release and not supporting conroe/allendale? or my ram not being compatible

never been so frustrated in my life..

My money is on the memory not working with the fantastic ds3!!! (spot the sarcasm), I have the exact symptoms with 2gb of g.skill nr that supposedly works. I booted with a stick of kingston and set the volts to +.3 and timings to 5-5-5-15 then stuck the g.skill back in, this results in one stick randomly recognised but still no boot. Bios f4c btw.

Anyone know if this mushkin is go with the ds3?

Just making the rounds. I've got this:

    No post. It's Patriot 2x1GB 667Mhz CL5 Signature Line, PSD22G667K. Here's a link:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820220064

Picked up the DS3 from Fry's along with an e6300. Unfortunately, I do not have a speaker to hear error codes. I tried:

-2 different video cards (1 known good)
-Went through all the ram combos
    -Clear CMOS
    -Double checked all connections
    -Unplugged USB devices

I can't be 100% certain it's the board, cpu, or ram since I've yet to see any up yet. But I'm fairly certain the board doesn't like the Patriot chips. I'll pick up some new one's tomorrow...Corsair ~ least hassle then? If anyone has any ideas, I'm all ears.
