Oh seen, I thought you meant the first boot after the flash.

That's weird.. battery inserted properly? try taking it out and reseating it. do the same with the bios chip (be careful of the plastic housing)

What are you using to flash bios?

If I press F2 it continues to boot with new settings and yes I'm clearing cmos after each flash.

    Anyone know whats happening?

Thanks for the reply I'll try what you suggested, although both battery & chip & are properly seated.

Using Asus update to flash from within windows, too lazy too use floppy although that could be the issue.

    The exact text is

    CMOS Checksum Bad
    Press F1 to run SETUP
Press F2 to load Default Values & continue

This only started happenin after flashing to 1503, all subsequent flashes after that & I get this error.

i just bought this configuration a week ago
    Processor: Core 2 E6600
    Cooling: original cooler
    Motherboard: ASUS P5W DH Deluxe
    Graphics: eVGA GeForce 7600GT 256MB
    Memory: 2*1GB G.SKILL @4-4-4-12
Power: Antec True Power Trio TP3-430W
Harddrives: Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
    Case:COOLER MASTER Centurion 5
    DVD: asus
i connected everything and booted...the green led was on, the fan in the back and front were working, but not the CPU fan...it was still....so i quickly
disconnected it. no beep, nothing on the monitor ..
anybody has an idea what happened?
might it be a bios problem? where could i check which version of the bios i have?
    thx

    Questions...

    Hi guys...

As a regular reader of this post, I thought I'd be able pick the brains of the group...

Basically as you can see in my sig, I'm running 1.55v on an E6700, only to max out at 350fsb. This is with SPD (5-5-5-15 - factory) and all other voltages at auto apart from RAM (2.4v - factory). I've included a screenie of the apparent daft temperature readings from coretemp, and generally odd behaviour... So my question is: do you guys feel, like me, that my voltage seems to be unnecessarily high for my o/c? The screenie shows that Coretemp has gone mad, and TAT shows there is some throttling - but neither of which can agree on anything! I can't even deduce if throttling is actually occurring!? Bizarre... If I try and up the other voltages to their max settings and lower the vCore, it all gets unstable and won't run past 350FSB anyway (hence the high vCore), and this board doesn't seem to want to be stable with the RAM booting at anything over 876MHz (I was hoping for 1050MHz ).

Can any of you dudes see anything vital here? I'm a little concerned at the temps always sitting at around 70°C, but it hasn't exploded thus far...

    Cheers for any advice...

    yeh, i used thermal paste!

basically i thought the temps were a little hot with the zalman paste that came with the cooler, then got some AS5 and put that on (which is currently on). Hardly any difference in temperature!

maybe i should add... as soon as i stop running either TAT or orthos, the temperature instantly jumps back down to 80°C or so...

    OC memory

I am new to ocing, but unfortunately am having trouble ocing my memory. I notice that alot of folks get 1:1 timings. How do you do this? I am loading the 30% overclock profile and I get the processor to 346x9 or 3117 MHz, but the memory I get FSB DRAM 4:3 259 MHz. I think this is equiv of PC3400 and I should be able to get much more. I would think I should get PC6400 at minimum. Seems like SPD doesnt read this mem properly. Sorry if this is a bad question, but I am new to OCing. Thanks in advance for any help. Can someone save their oc profile with similar hardware and post?

You may have to set tRFC to 42.
Lawrywild can help you with this.
ALSO, go back about 4 or 5 pages and read about it on this thread.

Was wondering what the discrepancy is here with trfc of 28 or 42. Mine autos at 28, whats the problem with 28 and how does 42 help.

    thanks for the clarification.

I wish I could help I still don't have a handle on this, your question is my question as well.

For some setting it to 42 helps, I don't need to. I am curious what would happen if I did set it to 42 though.
