so what's so good about it?
If it goes by the usual asus bios trend it's basically 1602 renamed to 1705

Any improvements in 1705 from 1602?

are the newer revisions of this board with the 1.85v northbridge overclocking better than the 1.65v versions? i have the 1.65v version and can only get 3.4ghz @ a vcore of 1.52 volts... was hoping for more... special since some of these newer cpus are hitting 3.4-3.6 on stock volts...
Probably won't make much difference, maybe a little more fsb but if your worried that you need more vmch just do a vmod, way better than getting a 1.85v mch version - much better fine tuning.

My 1.65vmch version maxed out @ 422FSB, both my 1.85vmch's hit 445 with ease and my current one maxed out 455 FSB after changing the northbridge cooling.Originally Posted by Wrangler88

Just goes to show most things in overclocking intel is luck of the draw. The 975 boards are not like DFI's nforce 4 boards where most of them consistently hit high FSB speeds. I sometimes wonder if the reason is because those boards gave you so much control over the memory settings so that once someone found something that worked we could all set things accordingly. Whereas on the intel platforms, most of theses settings are set automatically depending on the ram.

I cleaned up the last 2 pages on this topic.
Let's keep the flaming and name calling out of here, there's no need for that and it won't be tolerated by the staff.
Carry on.

Hi, I've read the notes in first page, but I've still some questions:
1) The mobo suffer of cold boot strating the system or rebooting it? It seems that bios 1503 solve this issue...
2) If I run hdds SATA and DVD burner/reader ATA (like most do) I'll have a slow post?
3) What's the average limit of the FSB with a stock mobo?
Thanks.
1) No problem now with latest biosOriginally Posted by Toki
2) Should be fine, that's how I run my drives. The front page is just a solution *IF* it posts slow.
3) 400-460

For the FSB limit, I'll use for now a Allendale, but this limit is general for both Conroe and Allendale, right?
I can find P5B Deluxe, P5B-E Plus and P5W DH for the same price, but I don't know what to buy cuz the mobo is really different especially P5B Deluxe and P5W DH (this one have some good multimediality thing).
anyone try 1705 yet ?

Hi, still yet to read any evidence whatsoever that my PSU doesn't work with this motherboard.
Makes me laugh really when people state it won't as it is really a seasonic with a Antec sticker on it. Only have to compare external and internal pictures to realise they are exactly the same.
Perhaps you'd better start knocking seasonic then if you are going to knock Antec.
No reviews I've read say it won't work with a P5WDH deluxe, only some silly chatter on forums that amounts to no solid evidence, just old wives tales...

Haven't noticed any differences from 1602 to 1705 . Bios options are 100% the same .
1705 made it more vista friendly from what some are saying in the asus forums. which now allows you to install vista trouble free.

With every bios flash apart from 1503 I get the following error after setting bios settings
cmos error bad checksum press F1 to continue
Press F2 to load defaults
or words to that effect
If I press F2 it continues to boot with new settings and yes I'm clearing cmos after each flash.
Anyone know whats happening?
