1.9v-2.0v? Guess I should of looked at your b4. I'm not sure what ic's that ram is based on but I'm guessing that my be your problem. The P5W DH has been known to be picky with ram. Did you try setting your ram to spd instead of manual? Do you have a friend with some G. Skill HZ's or Corsair? If you live near a Fry's or something & its not too much trouble, you may want to pick up some different ram just to eliminate yours as the issue. You can always return it.

Hi, lawrywild, on what basis do you make this statement that the Antec NeoHE 500 watt is no good for this motherboard?

I posed the question to Asus technical help and this is the reply I got:
    Dear Friend :
Thank you for contacting ASUS Customer Service.
My name is ZYC, and I would be assisting you today.
I checked your hardware configuration, the 550w PSU is far enough for your hardwares, you don't need purchase another PSU.

Thank you for using ASUS products and services!

So, from the horses mouth the Antec NeoHe 550 watt PSU is more than enough to power this motherboard!!

I was having some issues getting past 3.1Ghz till someone here told me to take vcore off auto..
So I did, put it to 1.35v and bumped up fsb to 356 and voila.
I'm now 800MHz over stock, and very sure I can go farther aswell..
I was checking to see if i'm Orthos Stable and yup i think so..

Well I had no luck with memset and larry´s theory, still orhos unstable at 400
This was booting with manual timings 5.5.5.15 and tweak every single valor in memset to a larger one.
    Voltage settings in bios was:

    cpu (e6600/L629B Batch) ---- 1.4v, 1.45v ( it does 3.5 ghz at 1.3 orhos stable)
    mem----2.15,2.2,2.25v
    mch----1.65v (early revision)
The other ones set to auto
    Bios: 1601, 1602, 1503, 1506, 1407, 1305. None of them stable at 400

Ram is a kingston hyperx KHX6000D2K2/1G rated 4.4.4.12 at 750 mhz 1.9v. I think it has Infineon chips.

    some screens:

This is with no tweaking at all, I mean windows boots with this settings at 400 fsb

    with trfc at 42

this is changing trc to 8, with trfc at 42

    Update: as suggested by Laa

Then Windows XP starts. There seems to be no way to get into BIOS.

I don't know exactly when this problem occured, perhaps when I changed the SATA drives from the EZ-headers to SATA1 and -3; perhaps when I installed the JMicron driver. I don't know.

I reinstalled XP 3x meanwhile No change.

Is there any way to get the BIOS screen back? Uninstall the JMicron driver in some way?

hahaha that's the same guy that sent this to me earlier, he knows very little. Spread spectrum isn't even in the bios. Trust asus to pretend that there is no issues with anything on their boards...

Sir, if you want to overclock higher,

i give you 2 suggestions about bios settings.

    first,

set that Spead spcturm to Disabled,

    that is very important.

If you still can not OC to higher,

please set MCH voltage to 1.65v for a test.

    [Problem Description]
    Hi,

Ever since I have bought this board, it has been impossible to run over 356fsb stable without having
to set Memory Timings to SPD Enabled which results in a measly 5-6-6-18-21 timings which is
extremely poor. If I set timings manually I can't POST above 356fsb but if I set SPD timings to Enable,
I can POST up to 420fsb.

There is a lengthy discussion in my thread here:
    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=110193

and MANY MANY others have the same problem.

using MEMSET 3.0 (a windows timing adjuster) it has been found out that the problem of this is the
tRFC value. Using SPD timings the tRFC is set to 42 and allows a FSB of up to 465 for my board.
When timings are set manually (4-4-4-12) I get a tRFC of 35 and the board gets extremely unstable
and the FSB cannot go above 370 without freezing. I can boot into windows at 356fsb with 4-4-4-12
timings set, then using MEMSET 3.0 to adjust tRFC to 42 and then use Clockgen (a windows fsb
adjuster) and I can go all the way to 465fsb so it obvious that the tRFC value is causing this problem.

Myself and many others (see my thread I linked to earlier), using a whole range of different memory
brands, ICs etc, have been waiting months for a BIOS update where tRFC is a option in the Chipset
timings settings. But still, months later there is still no option and we are limited to boot at 356fsb or
lower. For the insane amount of money I paid for this motherboard, I think it is outrageous that such a
small, simple option that could fix everyones fsb problem with this motherboard has still not been
added to the BIOS. Whereas, on your cheaper motherboard (P5B Deluxe etc) you have had the
tRFC option in the BIOS since the very beginning)

PLEASE PLEASE let your BIOS department know of this issue, so it can be resolved. It is just one
simple bios option to fix a hundreds of peoples fsb problem.

    Thank You.

Nice one LarryWild! Maybe ASUS will release a new BIOS with the tRFC option as a Christman present!

Got excited and didn't read all of LarryWild's post, so we won 't be getting a Christmas pressie from Asus then :-(

One can only wish. My board stopped been able to run 1:1 ratio or lower. I don't know why. I need to get me some D9GKX memory to rule out D9GMH issues.

Well everything war running fine until stuck some Corsair 5400UL and things went to hell. This happened before when I was some some Patriot D9GKX and switched to Crucial 10th Anny and I coudln't do 1:1 450x8, then went back to the Patriot D9GKX and problem was solved. Then I switched to Corsair 8000UL and everything was working O.K., until I put the the 5400UL and that's where I'm now, unable to run 1:1! I do have another mobo coming in to see if it's maybe the mobo.

do you know what i did when you asked for 1703? I went to my friend and asked if I could send you the bios. He said no and so I respected his decision. If you knew me, you'd know that I'm not one to keep something to myself. Good day
