[Problem Description]
Hi,
Ever since I have bought this board, it has been impossible to run over 356fsb stable without having
to set Memory Timings to SPD Enabled which results in a measly 5-6-6-18-21 timings which is
extremely poor. If I set timings manually I can't POST above 356fsb but if I set SPD timings to Enable,
I can POST up to 420fsb.
There is a lengthy discussion in my thread here:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=110193
and MANY MANY others have the same problem.
using MEMSET 3.0 (a windows timing adjuster) it has been found out that the problem of this is the
tRFC value. Using SPD timings the tRFC is set to 42 and allows a FSB of up to 465 for my board.
When timings are set manually (4-4-4-12) I get a tRFC of 35 and the board gets extremely unstable
and the FSB cannot go above 370 without freezing. I can boot into windows at 356fsb with 4-4-4-12
timings set, then using MEMSET 3.0 to adjust tRFC to 42 and then use Clockgen (a windows fsb
adjuster) and I can go all the way to 465fsb so it obvious that the tRFC value is causing this problem.
Myself and many others (see my thread I linked to earlier), using a whole range of different memory
brands, ICs etc, have been waiting months for a BIOS update where tRFC is a option in the Chipset
timings settings. But still, months later there is still no option and we are limited to boot at 356fsb or
lower. For the insane amount of money I paid for this motherboard, I think it is outrageous that such a
small, simple option that could fix everyones fsb problem with this motherboard has still not been
added to the BIOS. Whereas, on your cheaper motherboard (P5B Deluxe etc) you have had the
tRFC option in the BIOS since the very beginning)
PLEASE PLEASE let your BIOS department know of this issue, so it can be resolved. It is just one
simple bios option to fix a hundreds of peoples fsb problem.
Thank You.
