They have bad SPD tables if not set on manual timings heh.

Here are my RAM settings as Memset 3.0 reports them. The tRFC is at 28. Is it suppose to be 42 regardless, because I had no problem passing 360.

Yeh, that's what I would expect to see, coz your ram boots fine at manual timings

So if my rig would not boot manual settings then using SPD I would need to change to 42?

    Sorry for not understanding yet.

Micron D9. The early ones were high binned. Whats the first four on your serial #?

How do you use Memset to determine what the existing RAM settings are...just open the program???

The reason I ask is when I open the program, my tRFC setting is aleady at 42 and I can't run stable at 3.4Ghz (using BIOS fsb settings). However, if I hit "Apply" in Memset, and then try to run at 3.4 Ghz (using Setfsb in Windows), I seem stable (so far).

Am I changing anything if I just "Apply" the settings that come up by default in Memset when I open the program???

    I'm so confused.

Does this board shut down if the northbridge gets too hot, or does the northbridge burn out and kill the motherboard?

I read that the reason why Corsair Dominator PC2-8888 is so expensive is because only about 5% of the IC's purchased are good enough to be called PC2-8888.

What does my serial number tell you?
    EDIT:
I peeked under the heat spreader (Ihate heat spreaders) and I have: "6pD22 D9gmh". According to the thread llinked these are rated for 667? My RAM is 6400 or 800 mhz. Whatever. Running 800!

The early models that got everyone's attention were 0603-0605. Later G. Skill changed their numbering scheme and it seemed around that time the chips used were not as high binned as the others. This is all speculation of course, but my 0605's clock much higher than my 063205's. My 0605's also work well with the 4:5 divider on the P5W DH whereas the 063205's won't even boot. Finally the 0605's will do 3-3-3-X 800mhz 2.3v & my 063205's won't do 3-3-3-X 800mhz at any voltage. Your sticks are more than likely like my 063205's. Good micron Micron D9GMH (B6-3) capable of 4-4-4-12 1000mhz 2.35-2.4v

I was just wondering....how does this board control the fans if the 1fan is enabled? At what temp. do the fans know when to speed up? (including the cpu fan) is it 65c or something? Is there a way to change these temps? Thanks.

Are you using 105 for Pcie?

You got good cooling on the MCH heat sink?

Week 27 CPUS are quite good you have to be able to hit 3.5.

This has been covered on the thread here, but it is overwhelmingly HUGE and has to be hard to sort through.

I have the same problem. Can't go above 350 or so even with 1.55V to MCH and 1.4V to CPU.

    e6600 L631A454 1.35V 333x9 7.5 hours Orthos Stable
    1602 BIOS, MCH 1.5V
GSkill PC6400 1.9V at SPD link
    Zalman CNPS9500 AT, 36C idle, 48C load
    Thermaltake Toughpower 650W PSU
    PCI-X at 100, PCI at 33.33
    Memset shows tRFC at 42.
Most stuff in BIOS set per this guide.

Tried running 400x6 but system still wouldn't boot so I don't think it's the CPU holding me back.

    Any other suggestions?

Have you tried more voltage on your MCH? Some boards just need more voltage to run OC. Try 1.65-1.75vmch. Are you running stock cooling on your chipset? I changed mine to AS5 then I removed the heat pipe all together. I mention this because I wouldn't recommend running 1.75-1.85vmch with stock cooling.

No, it's stock cooling. 1.55V is the highest I've tried on the MCH.

Is the BIOS the only location to get the MCH temp? Other than that one needs to manually check the temp?

    Anything else I can try?

Try uping the volts to 1.65vmch. Thats what 400FSB took on all 3 of tghe P5W DH boards I've owned, two of which I didn't change the stock cooling or even as AS5. Also, your cpu volts are probably too low. The vdroop on this board will make 1.4v set in bios under 1.35v load. Few 6600's can do 3.6ghz @ 1.36v. You need to set your cpu to 1.475v or 1.4850v. The pc should boot @ 3.6ghz 400FSB with these two increases in voltages and be okay in temps.

Put MCH up to 1.65V and Vcore to 1.4875 and I almost made it to Windows but that was all.

Well, I tried memset to relax tRFC to 42 and Trd to 7 as well as 8, and then tried to increase past my 356 fsb wall using Setfsb. No luck.

I have tried everything to get past this fsb wall, and all has failed. I can do 356 fsb x 9 (3.2. Ghz) at all stock voltages, yet no amoiunt of voltage increases and no amount of relaxed RAM settings (CAS, tRFC and Trd) have helped break past this wall.

Despite all the optimism that the fsb walls are related to a simple memory sub-timing, that is not my case. I need to be satisfied with 3.2 Ghz out of my E6600 and P5W-DH Deluxe. I am tired of flashing and tweaking to no avail.

Thanks to all for all the suggestions.

I doubt the trfc issue but I did forget to mention ram voltage. You should set the dram voltage to 2.1-2.2v. I think your sticks say 2.0-2.1v for ddr2 6400. Some sticks need the full 2.1v. you can run up to 2.2v to be safe & ensure its not the ram.

My RAM is rated for 1.9V-2.0V at 800MHz. If I'm running the RAM below it's rated speed, how would increasing the voltage help?
