    Old + New - Conroe+X850XT - 10000pts 3DMark05

    Tonight I wanted to have some good ol' oc'ing action , with my still favorite videocard - the X850XT PE.

    Conore + new drivers help this "ancient" X850XT PE to shine yet again:


    M/B: Gigabyte G-965-DQ6
    CPU: X6600 B1 STEP 5
    CPU Cooling: Single Stage Chilly1 Phasechange
    Memory: 2x1024MB
    VGA: X850XT PE 672/642
    VGA VCore+Vdimm = 1.57V / Stock Vdimm
    VGA cooling: Stock ATI fan/heatsink
    Power Supply: OCZ 520
    Vcore: 1.580V Vdimm: 2.3V, Vmch: 1.6V(BIOS), OS: Windows XP PRO

    Tomorrow I think I will do the Vdd and Vddq mods - and give the core some decent cooling. Hopefully scores will dramaticaly improve!

    So much fun benching this rig!!!

    Here a comparo to a Conroe @ 4.4GHZ with dual 7900GTX SLI'd. X850 is not looking too shabby in this case!

    Yikes, 9.2k with the card on air.

    At first I was very unimpressed, but then I saw those measly card clocks. Quick card for air for sure.

    Mike has been teasing us for the past year...his current best is around 9.8k with an FX60. Honestly I'm going to have to go over there if the next 05 he posts is below 10k.

    Many thanks mikeguava... I have a GTO2 (R480) and I'm getting Conroe soon so I was wondering what sort of result increases I should epect. I'm only on Air though.

    You really want the Asus - the GB is currently a piece of crap. Asus is quiet a bit faster for 3D

    I haven't look into the drivers lately - was using the latest for now - just prepping the card again.

    Subzero action will come soon - just finished off doing memory mods again and card is already flying much nicer...

    Do you remember a dude, PCICE? - I belive he nearly hit 1000mhz on GPU... :S

    Please do - that would be FUN! Cardclocks? hmmm - the core does around 850mhz memory 690mhz. Hopefully so more if it survives the stock cooler until I am back in Miami ...
