Anyone fancy an assault on red library ?

    http://www.free-dc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=11431

Seems that there is no limit on the number of clients that can be run now, so ramp em up ppl. This project uses less bandwidth than Dimes or majestic and doesnt require VMs.

It appears that way from what I read. Seems you need to copy the folder and then open a new .exe

I cant try at the moment as my remote access is playing up atm and most of my machines are down due to the never ending heat.

Yea i'm worried about the heat too, my air-con has been on for more than 48 hours non-stop!

I'll try copying the whole directory, and report back.

EDIT: It works! I just stopped the old client copied the whole directory to a new location and renamed the .exe file and it worked!

Seems one of my rigs doesnt like bandwidth DC projects anymore, no mj12 or red on that one. Shame as it had 30 clients ready to go.

What becomes the bottleneck first for red library then if we dont need vm's is it ram or cpu? either way ill go full blast for a bit

P.S. whats taking them so long with this linux client....

[EDIT] It seems the cpu is the most immediate bottleneck as I only have 512mb of ram and am running 23 clients. I will leave them run and see how they do but it means my rosetta output will drop thanks to the clients sucking every last drop of cpu power, if all the clients get points then I may set it up on some P3's as a set and forgot as my current computers becoming unreponsive with all these clients. [/EDIT]

Thats the red library download page with the clients if thats what your after it also has links to everything else on it.

For some reason I can never find it unless linked to it the website is horrible to negotiate

[EDIT] OK i've been watching my taskmanager for a bit and it is infact the ram that is still the bottleneck for me. It is only 15mb per client though and i've managed 36 on 512mb and the computers still useably responsive. Shame there's no linux client though. [/EDIT]

You can stack the taskbar by dragging it out btw so it looks like this

I did a quick Red Library guide in the DCV section let me know if i missed anything.

Riptide:- how do I check how much v mem and actual mem it uses? I know Jeff or someone said how a while back but i've forgotten

Can you not set it to just auto hide taskbar?

Also crt's still rock I just upgraded my 15" crt montior for a 17" crt I found on the street can't beat the price and better performance than a 17" or 19" flatty

What i gathered in 2 days was out produced in a single update!

Anyways, in a few months my lease to my appartment will expire, and for the first time i'm going to buy a flat and not rent one . The flat i have in mind will have a 100Mbps up and down line, but i know that their ping rates are really high. So i'm wondering will the large bandwidth be enough to overcome the high ping rates? Or would it not matter for these bandwidth projects?
