GameXstream is tier 2? They're definitely known for horrible ripple, sometimes exceeding ATX spec, and If I had a dollar for every failing computer thread I've seen, where one of those things was found to be the culprit...

850 HX is tier 2??

From the "real" reviews out there, a Corsair 850HX would be a Tier 1, whatever a Tier 1 qualifier would be. Since the 850HX performs as well as a Seasonic M12D/PCP&C Silencer 910/XFX 850 Black Edition (which are all the same platform and essentially the same power supply), and the Antec SG 850, I'd put all the aforementioned power supplies in the same tier...absolute first class.

The Topower PowerBirds, I'd put down to Tier 3, due to their less-than-stellar internal construction (using no-name Chinese capacitors in the secondary is not what I'd call first class construction) along with higher than the class-leaders in ripple/noise generation at near to full load. For the money, there are better choices out there.

The problem with the OCZ lines is that they are a mishmash of OEM's, even within the same name line, and you cannot relate the performance of one unit to another, even if they have the same name and just differ in wattage.

For example, the StealthXStream 400W, for example, is built by CWT while the StealthXStream 500W and 600W are built by FSP....but the FSP units have worse ripple/noise than the CWT build.

The OCZ Fata1ity 700W, a unit built by Impervio, was going to originally be released as an EliteXStream, but that line was suddenly EOL'd for no apparent reason...at least none mentioned by OCZ. But it's a great performer.

And for another, the ModXStream Pro 700W is a Sirtec built unit. This one just doesn't like heat at all and uses less-than-stellar caps inside it, and has a rather low +12V output for its overall capacity (552W out of its rated 700W----much lower percentage of its capacity avail. in +12V {~78%} as compared to other units of similar output, like the Antec TruePower 750W with 744W of its total capacity avail. on its +12V rails.)

Now that's a mishmash of OEM's! Always wondered how OCZ managed to keep up with who makes what.

I need a powerfull psu, the 850w OCZ I have cant cope under load and keeps cutting out...any other recommendations?

You would've been better served to start a new thread... but anyway...

You have a powerful PSU. An OCZ 850W GameXStream has the capacity to easily handle that system.

I would check to see if it's faulty. A good place to start is by testing your lines with a reliable DMM at idle and load.

their rams are top notch but psu wise you're better off with

What?!?! I thought OCZ was good. I've been away from the computer world for 1.5years. I use to recommend their PSU's all the time and still do. I switched from Antec to OCZ and Enermax

It has a single 12v rail of 53A.

I would be interested since it looks pretty good.
