    It's pretty decent yes.

If it fits into the budget, will still consider a Corsair/Seasonic or in that range, over an XFX.

    Question Re- PSU ranks

Source, what is your opinion of the Corsair HX 650.

It seems to have a good rating on newegg.

It is also on my shortlist.

On perkam's list it is Tier 2

    Thanks again for your help

That's an very nice PSU yes.

    Might be above Tier 2.
The HX on Perkam's list is the old one (HX620 and HX520), not the new models.

    52A / 624Watt on the 12V

    As for an review: http://www.hardwareheaven.com/review...onclusion.html
    He get's an 9.8 / 10,

And for an review of his bigger brother (HX850): http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php...tory3&reid=153

Plus, the 7 years of warranty is also a nice touch.

    Thumbs up Neato, Sourceman

Just what I thought, and worth shelving out the extra money.

I have a birthday upgrade to I-5 spec planned in February 2011

By getting the psu in a month before, I shall be well prepared.

    Many thanks Source

You think the HX 650 is good, Corsair's AX range has an 80% Gold rating.
Wonder where the AX 750 would come in the rankings
Probably alongside the Tagan U25 Dual Engine.
Would like to hear your views on this latest of Corsairs good range of PSUs

The first step in being updated has been taken.

Remember, it`s still a work in a progress, but at least it has the new series of PSUs.

A special thanks to Source, OklahamaWolf, and Jonny Guru for helping members out with their questions

    hehehe sorry for much intrusion...

    tier3

    glacialtech 950A
-efficiency wise...its silver....almostfailed silver during hot load test from JG
-ripple wise...worse than tx850, which is not tier1...
-2yr mediocre warranty , not a factor with regards to performance but worth noting since this is their only product..
    -their website even says 2 12v rails...lmao
    Featured with Dual +12V rails

    tier3

    enermax galaxy evo 1250
    - bronze...not the latest and greatest...its prolly silver if its underated to 1100w or so
    - pcper 2% regulation... they did proper loading..check review...shows 12.2 to 11.7x volts during full load...i dunno...the hcp1200 did 12.2 to 12.19
    - ripple wise...its not tier1 obviously...tier2 not even...

Isn't the glacialtech AX series the same internals as the Corsair AX series? Anyway, I've transferred it to Tier 2

I agree with the Enermax though, I've put it alongside its cousin, the Revolution85+ in Tier 2, if only because JG gave it a 9.9/10 :p

It seems you're not the only one.

My original Tiered list has been used by dozens of sites who have replicated it and have been updating themselves. (Which I don't mind, really, as long as they mention that it was on XS)

I was surprised to learn Newegg's Xpert PSU List is also based on my old one :

I would actually recommend moving Sparkle down to Tier 2. I've seen a lot of complaints of people who say that the customer service is non-existant and there are customers stuck with a unit that died within a few months to under a year who can't get a replacement from the company because they don't respond. Customer service always place a deciding role in what I buy and what I don't. I've heard XFX customer service is many times better now, compared to being MIA about five or six years ago. LOL and I see Ultra is back down to tier 5 again. haha Are they making units with solder all over the place again?

Speaking of XFX, the XFX Core Edition should be in Tier 5. I've been reading complaints of a lot of people who hear a loud POP then it dies. I read one guy said sparks flew out of it all over the place. Damn, I'm staying FAR away from one of those. What scares me is I almost bought one... for my mother! Great thats all I need is to install a fire bomb in her computer and set her house on fire.

Also, the Superflower Golden King Series will NOT be sold in the US, but it WILL be sold normally in China, Japan and South Korea and eventually show up in Germany, but it is being sold in the US under a different brand (starting this September). Anyone know what brand that will be? It should have already started hitting shelves by now and I've been wanting to check them out.

Hey, maybe you guys can help me? I'm trying to find a good 600W to 700W PSU for under $160 that is either turquoise or black & turquoise. with either black or turquoise plug tips or both. Fan color doesn't matter since you won't be able to see it from any angle, face down against the bottom fan port under the case. I'm trying to build a color theme system for someone. I've managed to find EVERY part that works with the black & turquoise theme, but man I am having a hell of a time finding a high end PSU in one of these colors for THAT price. *sigh* I was originally going to use an Corsair HX until I realized I was confusing it with an AX, dammit.

Actually... Natranr just pointed out that people are complaining MORE bout the AX failing than the HX.... does the HX really belong on the Tier 3 list?

I have another suggestion that I think everyone will agree on. All PSU's that are modular should have a blue bolded M after them. (I used #1589FF for the color cause it shows up better) There's a lot of people, especially me, who won't even touch a PSU unless its modular cause we don't want a cluster**** of cables in our builds. Its one of my biggest pet peeves when building a new system.

dude hcp1200 is nice, but the ax1200 has less cables because i only use so less, i don't even use the modular sata cable, i use the molex-sata lol

definitely agree on your suggestion, i wonder if original poster will reconsider

What you guys think about Tagan TG700-BZIII PipeRock III 700W ? Only piperock II is listed in Tier 2 , wonder if III is as good or better ? Im currently choosing a new PSU for my build (i2500k , 2x6950 CF(560TI SLI) . Will it be able to perform ok with additional OC added ? It currently is priced @ 87.90€ (124.46$)
