Im starting to bench my pieced together PM rig and my x850xt.
Simply I just want to know how to set LOD.
Ive tried looking for it in ATi Tool and ATi Tray Tools, but I cant seem to find it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

in ati tool choose settings then go to driver tweaks. but the default lod is all you should use for benching. lowering it is cheating yourself

Well I understand that, but everybody talks about it on here and I was generally curious on where it was because I looked and couldnt find it.
Thanks though for the screenies.
Just another tweak, everybody can use it...
You're kidding, right? How do you think all these world records are done? Of course they all use it, it is just a matter of who admits it.Originally Posted by jimmyz

We've been having the LOD argument since 2002 on this forum. It is not cheating per se as FM do not class it as such, however, although it is legally Ok peoples morals tend to guide them in such and you have two polarised camps on their use.
Now that Ati can do LOD it is better because when it was just nvidia it did not allow a very level playing field at the very top.

Nvidia benefits much more from LOD than ATI though. ATI seems to perform worse at times with a higher LOD setting. The only thing that really gets a huge boost from LOD is 3dmark01.
Do you think Nvidia would be anywhere near the top10 in the orb without LOD?
Use LOD5 in 2001 with ATI
Vmods - what can possibly go wrong? ©
Yes because nvidia also tails off with higher LOD as well. When it comes down to it software tweaks will only gain you so much and it is having the hardware + cooling + vmods which always make the big difference.Originally Posted by ahmad

ATI doesnt just level off in terms of performance, performance is actually worse than not using LOD if its not right. Its odd I know, but who knows.Originally Posted by zakelwe

Careful, lowering or increasind LOD in 3DMark 2k1 it's a bad idea.
Thanks a lot for the help.
Hopefully learning how to play with this will help my scores get that much better since Im only on air atm.
