I'd change the voltage reading to be reported by mobo software, dmm, or bios setting....basically anything besides cpu-z, since it's is never correct.

It's actually the same in bios as it is in cpu-z. at least at idle.

I think we should all be using Core Temp, as aparently its the most accurate program we have that gives accurate readings ...

well after dual prime95's for about 20mins the coretemp proggy read:

    ambient temp around 70F
    core1 54c
    core2 53c

cant get the uguru software to work at all. no other program but coretemp works atm.

Core Temp reads directly of the digital diode on the core die so its VERY accurate.

Evil - those temps are about the same as mine when two cores under load ... 54-55C with intel stock HSF ....

I spoke ot another guy today with exactly same config as mine (p5W dh deluxe, e6400 and OCZ ram) and his temps are around 42C under load ... I was surprised and confused to see that.

oh very nice that there's somebody else who uses the TT Blue Orb II.
I see that it fits on the P5B Deluxe, do you guess that it will also fit on the P5W DH Deluxe???
Because i'm tired of using watercooling, and for the fact that i also have to use some additional fans for the rest of the Mobo.

I can't see why not, though my orb dose extend 5mm past the top of the mobo, so you do require some clearence from the PSU.

The Blue Orb2 is under-rated, it performs within 1 ~ 2 deg C of the Big Typhoon, but is quieter, and dose a better job of cooling surounding components, mobo/northbridge/ram/display card. The only down side is it's not suitable for people who change ram modules more than there underware... which might apply to a few people around hear

hehe yes its the same prob on my DFI N4 Ultra D, it seems to be very difficult changing the rams

i'll use the TT with an Allendale 6400, so its a good choice.

guys ... when your CPUs are on load for a while, lets say leave it priming for an hour or so, is the heatsink hot to touch ? at over 50C it should be ...

my Core duo shows 55C but when I touch the heatsink its not HOT at all, certainly not as hot as the block on my celeron D which runs at 51C , when touched, my fingers burn.

well if your Heatsink isn't hot shouldn't that be good? lol -- or probably your hand is just too warm =P it can also mean your heatsink is high end goodies=P

no man ... my hand is not warm ...

I have two systems next to each other ... when I touch my celeron D @3.6Ghz at 51C its very hot .... my Conroe at 55C (according to Core Temp) is not hot at all ...

my point is, we need to know which software to trust ... also as bugeyes posted his senfu thermal probe temps, u can see the heatsink is not hot at all ... the difference between Core Temp reports and hi Senfu Probe when on load is WAY to big ... it should not be more than 5C or so...

depends on a number of factors I guess.

If your room temp and airflow is good, but heatsink is hot then it means your heatsink being pushed to the limit.

If room temp, airflow and heatsink is good, but heatsink is cold and CPU is hot, then its likely you don't have enough/too much paste or the heatsink isn't fitting well.

not all temp indicaters are 100% accurate most of them are off by 2-3C but 5. woah .. hm.. although i trust core temp more since they're pretty accurate on my system

I am not sure if you guys are getting my point. Core Temp says the CPU TEMP is 55C on load, wouldnt you think that the heatsink would be hot when left for priming for few hours? the heat dissipation achieved equilibrium at that temperature so the heatsink alone should be releasing this heat thus be hot.

    same as my celery cpu.

but with conroe, its not hot to touch at all. I simply dont believe the Core Temp reports. I will stick on my senfu probes soon too , but its only going to confirm what I am saying.
