Basically they are saying they have too many employies and need to cut their budgets because the ride is going to be rocky

Modern Ram, makes an old overclocker miss BH-5 and the fun it was
I don't think the road ahead for intel will be rocky, but clearly they have realised just how bloated the company has become, and how having a company thats future is determined more by its engineers rather than marketing and management is both more efficient and more competitive.
The first orders for woodcrest and conroe for OEM will take until end of 2006 to be completed. So the earliest we'll see it affecting Intel's balance sheet is the quarterly report in April 2007.Originally Posted by onewingedangel

1 billion dollars split 1000 ways = salary of each manager. So what if they get fired they still gathered up over the years to live out the rest of their lives.
they shall burn in hell
these mad guys, are the ones, that desided to keep Netburst from 2002-2005 (so says thg). if that's true(and i think so), this was the best thing intel could EVER do.
too many managers in a company, they only get too much money for the less work they do...deciding commercial things but not bringing the technology further...I think the more managers they fire, the better their decision is

A company realizing they have too many managers? Whodathunk?
Intel has 100,000 employees. This is part of the broader restructuring that intel started earlier this year. It will be the biggest structuring in the last 2 decades for intel.
