    Post your pre-render settings.....

    Format -

    (I'll start for an example).

    Mobo chipset : SiS 645
MoBo Driver : XP IDE, AGP 1.09F
    Gfx Chipset : MX440
    Gfx Driver : 29.40
Car Test Low : Prerender 7
Car test high : Prerender 4
    Drago Low : Prerender 6
    Drago High : Prerender 3
    Lobby Low : Prerender 9
    Lobby High : Prerender 2
Nature : NA (wont run on MX440) / Prerender 4 for my old ATI 8500 :P.

Basically im interested in seeing how different pre-renders affect different cpu platforms and gfx platforms. For instance im using totally different settings for this MX440 as I was for the R8500. Would be nice to see if all you top page guys have figured out the same pre-render settings too. I have a suspicion youll all be running around the same values for AMD systems, but totally different for P4s.

    Anyway, post away.

    Marty :

Rivatuner --> DirectX settings. Its on about the third or 4th page . Basically it sets an upper limit of how many frames you can have stored rendered ahead of the one you are currently displaying. Ive heard a lot of people say that pre-render has a massive effect on scores, tho Ive yet to gain more than 20 - 30 points using it. More a point of interest than a tweak related question .

    Opp :

DD and Randi swear by the pre-render, however, ive always taken the same approach as you m8. I basically took an educated guess and set the hardest cpu benches on highest pre-render, and the most gfx intensive on middle to low. Cant say its made much difference tho - maybe something to play with in the future.

Well heck. I never even noticed that before. I guess mine has always been set to 3. Cool gives me something else to play with.

    Thanks for the info.

    Marty

Ps I will let you know if it makes a big diff.

I also use 3 on all the tests.... I played with it once but since the test was inconclusive, I figured it was not worth it... didnt show an obvious improvement anyway

I'll join with macci and jc on this one. I found it inconclusive and have been running all my latest successful benches with it left on 3.

I've tried larger values, but can't see consistent improvement over just using 3.

I've got a pretty good increase when i choose the optimal prerendering settings.

All tests on 3: 4324 points

Using optimal prerender limits: 4351 points

That's 27 points increase on a GF1 DDR, not bad for such a low end card. I asume if you tweak your prerender limits on a high end card the difference will be 2 to 3 times higher. 50~80 points increase is worth the tweak imho.

Optimal prerender limits on my card:
    2
    14
    14

    2
