Exclamation XS Benchers, time to dominate a new benchmark!

Geek Patrol has JUST released a new multi-platform benchmark called Geekbench. It's available for Windows, OS X, and Linux.

Let's see XS invade and take over! Currently the top scores are all held by Power Mac Quad G5's, see if you can take em out

    Download the benchmark here: http://www.geekpatrol.ca/geekbench/#download

    Have fun everyone!

The benchmark is mostly rubbish of course, not resembling anything real-world.

A major chunk is based on the "stream" benchmark that IIRC is also the core part of the useless Sandra memory bandwidth test.

    I'm 1124.

The benchmark needs a 64 bit version bad. It reports the first stream result as 3.6 GB/sec, but running a standlone 64 bit executable of stream reads:
    Code:
Function Rate (MB/s) Avg time Min time Max time
    Copy: 4326.1153 0.0075 0.0074 0.0076
    Scale: 4229.4614 0.0076 0.0076 0.0076
    Add: 4577.1648 0.0106 0.0105 0.0106
    Triad: 4472.6322 0.0108 0.0107 0.0110

It's also unfair and making comparisions difficult that they use gcc-4.0.0 for Linux and MacOS but not for Windows, although gcc-4.0.0 is available for Windows.

It would have been nice to see how the Intel compiler does for Conroe, for example.

Source code not available although almost everything they put in there is popular OpenSource software. Fools.

Looks pretty toyish overall to me overall, but at least it runs quick and well.

I just thought it would be a fun little project to have some of yall with these new high powered Conroes to come in and lay down some results that no other computer will ever be able to touch

i laughed that my 2.5ghz single core venice with almost stock ram was only 100 points behind the top G5

    Not really Conroe as such.

It rather shows that Fugger and I both use the SuperTalent DDR2-1000

Most tests in that benchmark are either too small or just memory bandwidth tests. So we get one with the clockspeed and the other with the DDR2.

I'll donate $0.01 to them with a thank you note that they took so many OpenSource parts and made a closed-part product

I'm ranked #104...without an serious OC on my CPU or anything...This benchmark is really pointless and at the current time there aren't enough users to really make it worth doing. That being said, I want to break into the top 100.

    Surpose that´s alright ;-)

Actually it´s just sad, that there isn´t any way to make a profile there, so that we could proof that it´s our results.
