thanks guys.i am waiting on mine to be built now.
tell you what would be cool if we could get a post going on power suppy mods to add the pots to the psu's we have now.there has got to be circuit diagrams floating around the web on antecs, and other's were we could post pics on how too's.with pots most of the good power supplys would be great.like it would be nice if i knew where to put a pot on my true power 550

    anyway just a thought

And a dangerous one at that I'd hate for anyone to accidently fry themselves doing a mod rather than a piece of hardware!

I'm always surprised when nobody mentions Sparkle as good power supply. I have 3 of the 350w models and they are all on 24/7 and feeding 2.4-2.5GHz AMD systems with 5.1v+-.05v.

    Great deal for $44 delivered.

btw, they even have a pot for the +5v line.

I've never had one but have heard that they are good supplies. And it does sound like a good deal for $44.

    I allready did m8.

There made by fortron source, as are quite a few other PSUs.

You can usually tell as the model number will start FSPxxxx

    ooppss!

And thanks for the model number info... I'll keep that in the deep reaches of my gray matter in case I come across some FSPxxxx cheaply.

There are so many posts in this thread that I didn't read the whole thing. PC Power and Cooling would have to be my number 1 choice. TTGI is my second.

if they would make this in 115v then there would be no need to custom order a power supply. Antec makes this true control series 550w with external pots to adjust all three voltage rails

My new Antec TrueControl 550...it's 115v. Each voltage rail can be dialed in via the bay mounted control panel......about a $160.

I got this one from Antec, but you all can probably find it cheaper once they become widely available.

This one is for an aluminum case that I'm in the process of building:

Bowman, keep us informed on if that power supply improves your overclocks or anything. Personally, I think all those high volts do is kill your components faster. I guess we'll find out soon.

I've not seen the trueControl from antec b4, probably will be a good one, I wonder if its the same psu as the truepower with adj pots ?

bowman1964 why didn't you ask something simple like Democrate or Republican, or something about religion or abortion, you know something thats cut and dry.

Just kidding you Bowman1964, I think the PSU is the most overlooked componet in a system, It should be one of the most important decisions you make just as important and the cpu or ram selction. Like you I have been through many, many PSU's trying to find one that actually can handle the load. I think we are close to the end of "cheap PSU's" though. The new graphic cards and mb/cpu are going to raise the bar.

Spaceman "What do you guys think about HEC (Heroichi Electronic Corp.) ? I've only heard good things about them before, and I had a 350 watt before that seemed fine. I saw a 525 watt HEC newegg refurb for $59 today, and snatched it up".

HEC is often overlooked, and i'm not sure why, they make better powersupplies then most of the brand namers out there (enermax etc), and are usually cheaper. My guess is they have poor distribution and marketing. I know they are big in certain parts of the world, just seem to be quiet around here (ontario canada), and other parts of north america.

I have had a few powersupplies from HEC, most 350W budget ones. They are quiet, heavy, and last forever. I have had one powering an old tbird system for over 3 years straight running seti, zero problems.

i don't have one, but from all i hear, PC P&C is the best.. then I'd have to say Antec's, because i've never dealt with TTGI, Antec's are solid and last a while. However my next PSU will be a high end PC P&C, only becasue I know that PSU's last a LONG time, and it's a good investment, you don't need to continually upgrade like a video card.

I love my enermaxes good rails and I trust them.

I only had one Antec PSU and it sucked mofo ass, the rails were low and unstable and also the back fan didn't move any air.
