Who Makes the Best Power Supply?

well after i have been through countless power supplies.

overclocking these AMD"S is tough on a power supply.
I want to get some oppions on the best power suppy made.
I ordered a new PC POWER & COOLING 510 watt unit with custom built with remote adjustments on all the supply lines.
i have been running 550 antec's but they have disappointed me latley.
so what do you guys think are the best supplies out there?

hmm ive heard alot of good reviews/comments about antec true power series,i just orderd 1 of those my self a few days ago hehe,what problems did u have with urs?

PC Power & Cooling is probably considered the best but they cost- you get what u pay for. The TTGI 520 is what many people use and it has the adjustable pot.

well i like the supply but on a epox 8rda and a r9700 the 12volt side is pulled to the max on mine.11.82 tops on 12v side measured at the molex connector.but i have this problem with a barton running 2712mhz @1.975 in bios 2.05 actual measured on the board.and a raddy running 480core.this combination kills my 12v side.

and i ran alot of power supplys.i have 2 500watt.1 600watt and a 550 true power.where one has a good 12v it loses the 5v or i lose 3v side.the antec was the best of the 4 where the seperate circuits for the 3 voltages does help.the antec helped me get from 459core on my raddy to 480 just by changing to a antec...no joke.

but i dont like the low 12v.so i called PC POWER & COOLING and they are custom building me a power supply.but yes it is expensive.over $300 shipped to me.

I custom ordered a PC Power & Cooling 510W 2 weeks ago, and it totally rocks. I also had the 3 external pots put on it.

You won't believe the quality of the potentiometers they use, such fine adjustment, they are not cheap piano pots at all.

Voltages on all the rails are as steady as a rock...510 watts with 650 watts peak power. The important thing is that they have 40 watts amperage on the +5 and 34 amps on the +12 line - plus line conditioning, etc, etc, etc.

If it makes you feel any better I paid around 290 bucks for mine, which was over 3 times what I paid for my Antec P412X...but trust me there is no comparison to the quality of the build. I really like how overbuilt they are. Bob Roark, their GM at PC Power and Cooling, was a great guy to work with. Tony (RoydRage) really likes his 510W PSU from them also and he recommended them to me, I bugged him about the external pots.

One thing, the pots have very long wires and if you want to custom install into your case, be prepared to do some drilling!

yea i dealt with cindy she was nice and she went to the GM, Bob Roark and he told her he was doing a few of these as custom jobs.yes mine was $290 plus shipping.

no problem on the help .anytime..

i appreciate the input makes me feal better about spending that much on a power supply.

PCP&C is by far the best supply out there. I got one used from a forum member about a year ago, Turbo Cool 450W. Solid as a rock. You may want to do a fan swap... The fans in these PSU's are LOUD, like 48dBa I slapped a 36CFM 30dBa sunon Sleeve bearing fan in mine and now it is nice and quiet.

How do you custom order a power supply? I think I might get a new one soon, looking for 550W+. What should I look for in a power supply? I'm pretty sure my next PSU will be a PC Power and Cooling one... If I can save up enough money.

well you have to phone call PC POWER and they will build it to you specs for a charge. it cost me $90 more to have external pots and completely load tested.will come with voltages set to 12.5v and 5.2v for me and i can adjust to the board i am using.

TTGI Makes a damn nice PSU for the cost. The 550w or the 420. They both can have their rails adjusted via a pot. Very nice PSU for the cost.

Pots are to adjust the 12v/5v and occasionally 3.3v line. Many PSU's simply put a fixed resistor in their line, and therefore to adjust the rails you have to solder in your own Pot.

A few companies put variables in place of fixed, and these are what most of us go for. TTGI makes a great PSU for the price, and it has internal pots. Alot of the Folders use a PSU, I forget who makes it, but it is low wattage, around $30, and has pots. PCPC is the ultimate PSU, and normally has pots on all 3 rails, but you can order the pots put externally, which saves alot of time.

If you can through down the $Bones$, get a PCPC.

GO for a TTGI if not.

Antecs and Enermaxes are good, but you need to install VR's to get anything out of em.

Well I got yet another Antec 550W from newegg, had to rma the first one. Now my 12 v rail is looking great. My voltages on 3.3 though are very low at 2.75. I have had on lockups in anything though. My voltages are right now

+3.3 is 2.75
+5.0 is 5.0
+12.0 is either 11.98 or 12.04

I'm not going ot worry about 3.3 if it doesn't LOCK UP but right now seems to be runnig good, only had it running for 3 hours now too so we'll see if it goes up with a day or two.

If you are using Motherboard monitor to check your voltages then that 3.3 reading is actually your vdimm, NOT your 3.3v rail.
So...you have a good supply there.

My 510w turbocool came, and UNF. That's what I say :P I got it all set up for 5.3v, 12.4v, and 3.4v. Love it!!!!!!! And this thing is built like a TANK.

I've heard some good reviews of the Hyper/TTGI 420 and 550 PSU's. I personally am using a Q-Tec 550w which is good enough for my system

Ive always done well with fortron source units, currently using a Sparkle 400watt.

ive heard good things about TTGI and PC power and cooling.

I have seen several Q-Tech units at work, and ive found them to be some of the VERY worst units ive ever used (no offence gobbo)

I have a 350w PC P&C it may not be 550w or have adjustable rails but man its built like a tank and my volts are rock solid... no lock ups and I have my system OC'ed pretty high... I paid less then $80 I could have had an Antec or TTGI 500w but I trust PC P&C... The last PSU I got from them is still running solid after 3+ years and two system upgrades...

What do you guys think about HEC (Heroichi Electronic Corp.) ? I've only heard good things about them before, and I had a 350 watt before that seemed fine. I saw a 525 watt HEC newegg refurb for $59 today, and snatched it up.

how long did it take for you to get your's built?

It took them about one week to produce the custom PSU for me then about 3 days shipping time (well worth the wait). By far the best power supply I've ever owned.
