    AM2 is compatibile with QuadCore!

This is bit of info from interview with H. Richard on DigiTimes

'We, on the other hand, because of our early adoption of HyperTransport, have a very solid socket strategy. The lifecycle of the current socket was well accepted and actually praised by the industry. We're now introducing AM2, and of course AM2 will be quad-core compatible'

If AM2 supports DDR3 well probably yes. But I think we can expect AM3 also.

isn't the deciding factor for AM2 DDR3 support just basically whether or not the sticks are physically more or less identical? I thought I saw an Inq rant a while back claiming that a bios upgrade might be all that's needed.

    Oh boy!
Seems like everything single thread that brings some scrap of good news about AMD, someone has to say something along the lines of "intel already has this...".."conroe blah..."

    Anyways, good news

    No.

First AMD desktop quad core "GreyHound" will NOT be Am2 compatible. Instead, the first quad core will be the AM2 version of the server chip "Deerhound" with two dual core rev g chips on one die.

It will be Socket F, because this will be server chip.

He's just saying that this isn't new. He didn't mention conroe or anything, just wanted to point out that both amd and intel have this.

    Socket F = Am2 on registered DDR2.

Both server and desktop platforms will be updated for k8-l.
