    AM2's for DC?

    What do you guys think about AM2's for running DC projects? Worthwhile?

    no sense upgrading from 939 rigs to AM2 rigs, but for new AMD rigs they'd make sense...

    LP, if youre going to spend that kind of money, you might as well go on the inexpensive side and get the new Allendale chips ( intel conroes with only 2mb of cache ) , DDR2-800 and a 965 board.. Would put an AM2 to shame for about the same price.

    It's not an upgrade for me. I have an empty tower (lost one in the heat last week), and am looking at an inexpensive way to get it up and running again.
    AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Orleans 2000MHz HT 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 Processor $111 at newegg

    and I'll check that out Haltech.

    If there are any projects that need/use lots of bandwith, then AM2 would be a good cpu for that project. As far as I know, there are some that do better with lots of bandwith, but none that would make someone choose AM2.
