New CPU New Board equals WOW

Well after reading post after post I had to jump on the wagon and purchase some overclocking material.

My old board was an Gigabyte 7VRX 1.1 KT333 (4.42)
And old CPU was an AMD Athlon XP 2200+

This board was terrible at overclocking so I left it at 133.

So I purchased an Epox 8rda+ for $106 shipped and an Athlon XP 2100+ Tbred B for $93 shipped.

Also purchased the Vantec Iceberq and used one of their heatsinks on the southbridge.

I'm very new to overclocking so I didn't want to push it too far but here's my results thus far. (I am using 2 x 256MB of Mushkin PC3000 as of right now)

    CPU : 2210 MHZ (stable) 170 x 13, voltage 1.75
    Video (msi gforce 4 ti 4200 128MB,41.09) : 282/485 (stable)
    Temps : CPU 30 idle / 34 load SYSTEM 19 idle 21 load
3DMARK2001 OLD score was 10480, my new score is 12912.

    Should I be using Direct X 9.0, I have 8.1 right now.

I'm very happy so far with the results and will continue to push it to the limit but I am going to wait till I get my Truepower 550W back and my new GIG of OCZ El PC3500 ram.

    BUY AN EPOX NOW.

Well I bought the XP 2100+ from Newegg.com

It is an AIUHB 0302 TPEW

I have an Thermalright SLK800 on there.

I also had an Vantec Tornado but I noticed that I couldn't hear ANYTHING except for this fan so I took it out, I replaced it w/ a Panaflo 80mm that doesn't push a lot of air but still my temps even at LOAD never go above 34.

So all in all I'm very happy and like I said with the new PSu and MEMORY coming I will try to hit 200.

I got a n00b question. Well I have not done any vmods to this Epox yet. So therefore, how high should my Vdimm and Vcore voltages be at?

I set my vcore at 1.75 and my vdimm at 2.77

Eventually I want something like 200 x 11 or what not.

can my vcore hit 1.85 without any problems like BOARD NOT BOOTING?

    Talking

Sounds good. I got all my stuff last week too and So far max overclock is 15X160=2400 1.8v on air with a slk800.

But default runs was 11X200=2140 and 13X166=2167 all default settings. So for a 102 chip I cant compain

Has more But havent broke Her in yet.

Where is a cpu table So I can compare to see what pr rating its running at 2400?

Exactly Airwolves, I also want to wait a little bit to break her in.

I am really pushing for 200 or more. SO many success stories with these 2100+ Tbred B's.

Pushed the MSI a little further to 290 and 490 and I finally broke 13,000! Do you think I should stick with directX 8.1 or 9.0?

For the card you have, stick with 8.1. 9.0 is reportedly buggy on some systems (although I have had no problems on mine) and doesn't offer any increases over 8.1. I have a similar setup and actually lost points on 9.0 compared to 8.1.
As quoted by LowRun......"So, we are one week past AMD's worst case scenario for BD's availability but they don't feel like communicating about the delay, I suppose AMD must be removed from the reliable sources list for AMD's products launch dates"

You're completely safe at 1.85 and even 2.0 vcore as long as that heatsink is flat on the chip

Well I can't wait any longer, had to raise FSB by 5. Also raised voltage now to 1.77. Increased CPU by 2 C at load. Raised my 3dmark2001 score from 13003 to 13280. SO far so GOOD. I can't wait till I get my OCZ!

don't be afraid, your cpu can handle high voltages for sure.

your temps are fine too...so feed some voltage to that chip!

your ti4200 seems to clock low but your score is pretty good, with higher clocks on the mem you could easily do 14k.

    Go Blackcoffe!!

I have basically the same system setup, except I have one stick of Corsair PC2700 and one junk stick of "elixir" pc2700. I can run stable at around 2.45ghz. Taks 1.95v though. I have a peltier and 20 amp power supply on its way though, we will see where I can go with this. On your question about how much voltage you can give your cpu, you could max out at around 2.05 or 2.1. Stupid voltage regulator kicks in about then and shuts off the system. Some people have problems at 1.9v because of their cpu, but that isn't the case with mine. Keep up the good work.

hey hedge, thanks for your reply. what is your multiplier? Well anyway. I hear to many people raising their voltage on EPOX's and then they can't reboot into windows at all and the board went bad. I hope this isn't true with my board, when my new RAM comes in I will push it to 1.85v. So thanks for your information.

    Hey Wes,

I have yet to really overclock my card seriously. over the weekend I will do a lot of benchmarking to see what it maxes out on. But like I said, once I get my power supply and memory (they are on fedEX trucks as we speak) I will continue to push my system to it's max.
