you're wrong. Intel ES DO NOT have a totally free Multi. only XEs have a free Multi. but because the Conroes do have Speedstep everyone can lower the Multis to go for higher FSBs...

my comment was not aimed at Intel in general, rather at the pricing of $550 a month from launch, for a CPU that is NOT radically different from the retail product, especially this close to launch. If anyone wants to buy one right now it's their decision, I did mount an interest myself until I realised how close the launch date is and how low the retail price will be, no flaming intended..

No, Pete is right. At least he didn't say the multi was totally unlocked...

well, he said unlocked. and normally unlocked means 60-1 or something like that

and he mentioned the Multi as a "pro-ES" argument which is totally wrong. they got the same Multis as the Retail CPUs

That's what he said. It implies an unlocked multi that can be lowered. He didn't say anything about a higher multi

Unlocked multi has alwaysd implied it can go down from say 10 to 6 and back to 10...thats it right...!

If AMD does differnt then thats nowt to do with Intel. Remeber this is an Intel section not AMD
