It's 4.8.3 - the one I used. The previous release - 4.8.1 is the one Dumo uses and which works...or did I miss it again???

But I found Alpha 5.0XXX and it also doesn't work

I agree with uOpt that it looks like the seller of that cpu has shipped you wrong cpu. I got a guestion for you guy's, do you think that I would be able to run E6400 Allendale 8x400 to get 3.2GHz or is it impossible? Mobo would be Asus P5W DH Deluxe.

Not really... that IS an ES conroe. Now... had the seller said specifically that it has unlocked multi's then you might have a bad seller. If he did that... ask him to give you a refund, if he does... no harm done. What many people don't understand is that there are many ES CPUs with LOCKED multi's, they are usually close to produciton versions (ie. later steppings) that go out to customers for testing. There are many different "stages" of ES cpus..
