    Question a dumb question...

this may sound stupid, but i want to know for sure. i am really lookin forward to getting an ati radeon 9700 pro and an abit nf7-s mobo. are these two compatable with each other? the rreason i ask is because the nf7-s has the nforce2 chipset, and nvidia and ati are competitors. thanks for the info in advance

They will work fine toghtether! The only problem ur 9700 can suffer from is high fsb, cause they have been known for causing trouble at high fsb's, but thats not related to mobo brand
Whats the answer to this question?

shouldn't be any problems. i know quite a few people with Nforce2 boards and ATI video cards.

*edit* you can lock the AGP port in spec with the Nforce2 chipset, so you don't need to worry about high FSB issues.

there should be an option in the bios. if there isn't, i'd guess it's locked by default, but i'm not positive.

It's set to Auto by default, I ran my old 9700pro up to 75mhz( user selectable) agp with NP.
In other words it works great AFAIK..... take a look at the ORB,almost all( if not all) the higher AMD scores are using 9700p and NF2 boards.

There is NP ( at least for me anyways) running high fsb with the 9700p or the 8500 series.
Hoping for MUCH better from PD.

Come on AMD, you can do better than this!

Option in the BIOS to lock it or if not locked then increments up to 100 Mhz.

    Regards
