this meter you have...is it set to J type or K type?
is the end of the probe on the neck or on the evap it self?
and if you have a second k type probe, tape it to the bottom of the evap and check it's readings.

Something tells me the -39C might be more accurate.

i wouldn't be paying to much attention to the one on the case then.... now that you have the probe. the probe is going to be closer to right.
is it at -67 when you cut it on? or does it drop to that?

No doubt about it! The K type sensor will be taped to the suction line at the evaporator exit and is the most reliable source for temperature readings.

i just ordered this, due to the male k probe connector is sticking out 2 inches into my computer case, now i can extend it to my desk with my meter.

3m Extension Cable for Type K Thermocouple Probes
3m cable provides additional length to Type K temperature sensors. This assembly utilizes Type K thermocouple wire and male/female Type K plugs, maintaining maximum accuracy.
    20. bucks its 3 meters long i hope i wont get any temp drops or loose any true temps due to the long ness of the wire, 10Feet?

Shouldn't be an issue, thermocouple's don't really measure resistance.

    Thanks!
ive been watching my meter in "computer off times" and my Atomic clock that has a thermometer in it and the temps are withen 1 degree difference than the probe in phasechange on floor and atomic clock/temp gage on desk.
so i feel my meter is good enough i got it for free.
    question:
this "dan frost NF11FX" unit gets cold like 2 times faster than a vaporchill xe2's i had in the past.....
im sure this is because ots a bigger compressor and all that?
    Thanks Eagle101

No, more the tuning of the unit.
Make sure you verify it though, if Jin used a K type probe, measure it and compare your calibration on your meter by testing either the same probe or a different probe in ice water and then in boiling water.

But any length of wire adds resistance (ohms) which will alter the voltage(voltage drop).

10 feet shouldn't be that much of a error, but it depends on what metal the extension wire is made from.

That'll help because that'd be a huge delta across an evaporator.

I must admit, i'm a bit confused here. The base of the evap can't possibly be anywhere near the compressor. As n00b 0f l337 said, pics would go a long way to helping here.

I feel sure Eagle101 means that the wires enter the insulation near the compressor, however am sure both sensors are co-located close the the evaporator around the suction tube. When the insulation is removed we'll know for sure..

    Thumbs up checky checky...

    thanks ian.....
you can see now my power supply is on top of the vaporchill the bottom is the phasechange, and the center is the my ch4extreme......
when i had the system apart i should have looked to see where jinu put the sensor..........
i never pulled back the insulation from the evap head maybe its there
im just using the vaporchill case glad i keeped it........

I'm not sure if this helps but when I had my Mach 2 GT upgraded by Little Devil he also changed my sensor and display to a k-type unit. My Mach did show -70 odd under load and now shows -40. I'm fairly sure (well I am), that the -40 is much more likely from a SS Phase.

commercial controllers are great they have a exponential temp display, the colder you go the more colder the controller displays temps
as long as its hold temps constantly you will get a very nice overclock, that nice temps for that compressor
