Hello all. I know this is a rather old board but i would like some help if possible.
I performed the VDroop mod as indicated by the POT mod here http://www.malvescorner.net/p4c800.html (not the fixed resistor method).
I have the potentiometer set to 28k Ohms and plopped in a 3.4E Prescot processor. I power up and go into the BIOS where the voltage is set to auto (1.375 i think is the default for this processor). The voltage shows in the BIOS as 1.404 and fluctuates up to 1.424 volts. Now thats a rather decent fluctuation given the purpose of the mod. I set the voltage manually to the lowest (which later turns out to be what this processor loads at default) and as expected the voltage is the same.
I unsolder the potentiometer (just one leg from the actual trimmer) and boot up and the voltage reads about 1.315 volts with a fluctuation up to 1.327 volts, thats only a .01 difference as opposed to a .02 deviance.
What do I do about this? The additional voltage i am afraid might damage the processor when its not over clocked at all. The main purpose of this mod was to make sure that the voltage would be stable - not drastically highier.
Any ideas? Is there any way to measure on the board itself the actual reading of the voltage into the processor?
