    I'd take the fallowing instead:

    1-ASUS
    2-ASUS
    3-ASUS
    4-ABIT
    5-GIGABYTE

    I won't accept nothing less.

But for a 6th choice? I'll take an ECS.

what will the RAM speeds be Conroe mobos be? 667, 800, 1066? I'll probably get the RD600 when it comes out in june but i need to know what speed DDR2 RAM i should get, if its 667 i'll go with 800 for OCin headroom, etc. Also, these Conroe boards support old P4s right? cuz i'd use my P4 i have now till i can get my hands on a Conroe.

I'm kind of confused about Conroe's L2 Cache, now do the lower end ones have 2*1MB cache to equal 2MB total or 2*2MB to equal 4MB total and the higher end have 4MB per core and 4MB total?

ON topic: If DFI can make a mobo for conroe with the legendary OC capabilities like the NForce 4 939 boards, we may have a serious winner. looking forward to seeing results from Asus, A resurected Abit, and DFI for conroe.

it is shared L2 cache, not seperate. The E6600/E6700+ have 4MB L2 cache, the lower models have 2MB L2 cache.

Lower models have 2MB L2 because it is much cheaper to make.

You mean English. With a capital "E", got it?

Now, how legendary is something that was just release about a year and a half ago? Which btw, they finally got it right, after 10 times trying.

ASUS has been long before..........they're the ones with the "Legendary" record.

I have to agree with Nasgul. ASUS will probably be the better choise. ABIT will follow, but DFI is not exactly the superior Intel board maker. There were couple of good boards from DFI, but not as good as came from ASUS and ABIT. The ASUS P4P/P4C series, ABIT IC7 and IS7 series were killers. And even long before those ASUS had some solid boards selling.

Asus + Intel chipset is proven to be awesome !!!

I wouldn't go blind for the ATI / nVidia chipset (nForce4 intel was pure garbage)

It will be ideal for me doing encoding & running my vmware environments at the moment i can just about run about 4 servers & 2 clients off my 2.4C with 1GB.

Hopefully with the power of Conroe i can have a much bigger virtual network, say 10 Servers & 5 Clients or more!

Does anyone know if there are any issues with running 4GB with Conroe?
