    The Best TV Tuner?

What is the best TVTuner for my PC?
It will be hooked directly to Cable TV.

I have an ATI Elite PCI card but it apparently is broken.

It gets real hot since day one. I've had it about 1 year.

Happy with my hauppauge PVR 250, had it 3 years, no problems, clean sharp picture.
They have switched the 250 with the 150, so it's PVR 150,PVR 350.

I would go with the Hauppauge WinTV-PVR 500. Great picture, record something while watching something else, or record two things at the same time. I assume you are looking for something on the PCI interface.

Expensive card but looks pretty heavy duty. How's the picture quality, say when watching a basketball game? It seems sports seem a bit more blurry then watching a Movie.

It's the two in one i don't like, feel more confident on a manufacturer, which has full focus on their purpose.
Just the fact, you have to put a tuner on a graphic card, make it fit, feels a bit like the all in one stereos from the mall.

    Well it looks pretty good.
When compared to my ATI Elite 550Pro http://www.ati.com/products/tvwonderelite/index.html
The Hauppauge PVR 150 looks about the same when watching regular TV stations and HBO. But,, I can notice a difference when watching sports, the Hauppauge is a bit blurry with fast action sports compared to the ATI card. The ATI is more sharp.
    That's my opinion anyway.

But the good thing is the at least the Hauppauge works, my damn ATI broke in less then a year.

Thanks for the help. I'll PM you if I start having problems with this new card Just kidding.

When you talk about sport, i guess you are refering to the speed in the movements, that demands more.
But then we are talking monitor, ms if tft.

Quick movements on a bad monitor gets blurry, if your monitor is, lets say a 25 ms TFT, movements will get blurry.
One sure way to see if your monitor is bad, is to watch when text goes from left to right. On a bad monitor, you'll have trouble reading it, it'll seem ghosty.

Yes I have ran a ton of benchmarks on PCs in my day.
Now I'm actually trying other things on a PC. I'm finding that a PC actually does more then just benchmark. I didn't know that a year ago

Well, we got on a 1st and 2nd place there. ok you took the top , but still i hold on to my arguments.
    Reason
I know that ati had trouble integrating the stuff, as it had to squeeze it on the pcb. This is why in my believe, you'll have a more solid card in your hand with the hauppauge, as you said your self, your ati died on you after a year.

But hey, we're on top of the world
