The XP-90 and the XP-120 are the lightest heatsinks i have ever owned i dont know why people say they are heavy.. they arent.

the Ultra-120 looks to be the same and an Ultra 90 would be the same also.

but yes an ultra-90 with 8 pipes would be very good!

the XP-120 without a fan actually weighed nearly the same as the stock socket 478 Intel HSF with the fan, which is what earned it the "Light and Easy" name......i owned two, loved them, been waiting for TR to come out with another good product, might have to grab one of these instead of the Ninja or others......

my problem is the layout of the DFI motherboard, the NF4-D, with the CPU socket in the middle of the board, as it is my Zalman 7000CUB HSF is only like 1" from the back of my video card

The ultra 120 weighs alot more than an Si 120... I just weighed my Ultra 120 and with fan and mounting hardware its like 1lb 10oz...

First off, seems like the temps make this thing worth it. One quiet fan on either side would probably do better than one uber fan on just a single side.

And just to clarify I don't think a 120C would be feasable from a weight angle. I was simple thinking the 90 in Cu would probably be doable from a weight angle and also provide stunning cooling.

Anyway I'm "pretty sure" I can fit the ultra 120 so think I'll have to go this direction. Unless we get a lot of bad reviews here.

Ninja is like 1C better maybe? (and harder to mount).

    Not many tests out there...

I might plump for an Ultra 120. My Freezer 64 Pro isn't really coping with my Toledo 3700+ and I have the space for a larger HSF.

These beasts only seem to be available at one online store in the UK so far and cost a not inconsiderable £38! I wonder how long it will take for them to filter through to other stores? I will try to get in touch with a few to see...

Call me crazy but I'm of the mind that most of the new stuff we are seeing these days was meant for Conroe or AM2 launches. Thus if you don't see it on the shelves now in mass quantity, I'd suspect in 3 weeks you'll see said products in quantity everywhere.

    If anyone is interested:

I just built an Opteron 165 system and overclocked it to 2.71 mhz. Temperature under load (by "load", I mean torture test on prime95) is 41 - 43 degree celcius. This is on aircooling with an aerocool extreme turbine 120mm fan blowing through the Ultra-120.

I suppose that's pretty good. Wish I could get the O/C to go further, but at even a single tick over 300 HTT, it gets unstable and errors out in prime95.

wow thats some good load temps. is that aerocool loud? i was thinking of grabbing the Ultra-120 if it has better load temps than my Mine. i live in SoCal and its hot this time of year (it was 95 F today and my room is around 75~80 F when its that hot outside) so its not helping my temps much. during dual sp2004 my temps reach 49~50c w/ my yate loon on full speed.

Oh yeah, forgot to talk about all of that:

This case is air-cooled like a mofo. I modded the top to allow 2x 80mm fans to blow right out the top. I parked them as close to the PSU as I could. I don't know if I would call the aerocool "loud" or not. I am not one to gripe about noise from my computer - it sits at the opposite wing of my house from bedrooms or any other "high traffic" areas, so noise is really no object.

The ultra-120 definitely did the job, though. The Opteron doesn't get very warm at all, and the base of the heat-sink where the heatpipe connects is cool to the touch.

Temperature in this room w/ my machine is 74 degrees as I type this (if the thermostat for the AC/furnace is accurate).

Cant decide between this, the tuniq or ninja

    1) Which is the easier to mount on a S775?
    2) Which is better with a low CFM fan?
    3) Which is better in passive mode?

hey - score - I agree no one actually realizes these are the best performing heatsninks with low cfm fans...in higher cfm fans its tuniq but with low cfm its ninja, even better then the tuniq tower...especially nice cuz you can actually have 2-3 120mm fans on it :-p

@Sneaky: What processor / speed / volts do you have under there? Your results sound good... but I'm going to need an idea of your heat output before passing judgement.

Edit: I notice you've got a bit of a cover on your specs... feel free to PM me if you don't mind answering but would prefer to keep it quiet

    Wouldn't it be too heavy?

I think the SI-128 is the BT killer: http://www.coolerguys.com/840556028864.html
