No Conroe support for Asus P5WD2-E?

I have an Asus P5WD2-E and emailed Asus support to ask if this board will support Conroe when it comes out.

    they answered:
    Dear Friend :

Thank you for contacting ASUS Customer Service.

My name is Sky and I would be assisting you today.

    I am sorry,P5WD2-E Premium can not support Core 2 Duo.you could refer:http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/c...Language=en-us

    Sorry for my delayed replying.

    Hope a good day

If having any problems, please don't hesitate to let me know. Let's discuss this issue together.
Seemed like just a standard mail from a call center agent who looked in the currently supported CPU list ... I replied politely that I didn't like that answer, and the P5WD2-E being one of the top line motherboards and all ... Someone else from Asus Support replied:

    Goodmorning,

Dear costumer, we do understand that you are disappointed about this fact, and at this time we are very sorry to inform you this fact, but because the new Conroe CPU hardware architecture has not been announced yet. Therefore, the hardware design of this motherboard does not support Conroe CPU at the moment.

    Kind regards.

    Asus TSD Team
I picked up the rumour that a 1.03g revision of the P5WD2-E would support Conroe, and decided to ask that gentlemen, he replied:

    Goodmorning,

I cannot confirm this information at this time, because we do not have the information. And because the new Conroe CPU hardware architecture has not
been announced yet, it has not been taken up in our database. But as soon as we have this information, I personally will send you an email with this information.

Thanks for contacting the Asus Technical Support Team.

    With kind regards,

    Asus TSD Team
So there you have it. I personally think my precious P5WD2-E board will not support Conroe, but we'll know for sure in a couple of months, won't we?

    does bios update help

There have been a flurry of new bioses for the P5WD2-E PREMIUM board the latest being 601Beta. Why they didn't stop at 401 when all the net burst processors where supported I don't know. As you probably know ASUS doesn't like to tell you what is covered by there new bioses so I don't know what features 501 and 601 cover. What I really want to know is whether they are trying at all to enable Conroe support with these new bioses or if it's for some other reason. What reason? Any thoughts?

AFAIK a new version of the P5WD2-E will be released, that will support Core 2 Duo. This new version will use a 8-phase stage VRM, of course compliant with version 11.

    )

Your definition of wealthy is sure different then mine. I haven't even saw 100 threads like this and $100 in a third world country doesn't make you wealthy.
