TT BT out of these 3 options. If not Noctua NU-H 12 or NU-H 9 or Tunqi Tower 120 or Scythe Ninja.

Here were the results of my testing.

The Zalman7700 really doesn't perform on par with the rest of the heatsink, but it looks nice.

Given the set of circumstances (for my testing, an open test bench and a very hot cpu), the TTBT performed considerably better than the lapped xp-120.

Another vote for the Big Typhoon. Great cooler, and it blows down on the mb to giving extra cooling unlike many of the new tower coolers.
The little air system that could.

Big Typhoon. It's very close between the BT and XP-120, but the BT has been found to be slightly better in most cases.

    Big Typhoon.

Lap the base, plug the holes, and put a better fan on top of it. After that the performance approaches watercooling levels.

I've decided on the Big Typhoon and I will be equiping it with my 120x38mm Delta 141CFM About lapping the base, I've never really done it...... I thaught the base comes factory lapped and is as flat as you can get it????

also where can I get a lapping kit? and what the performance increase?

The base comes flat, not factory lapped, AFAIK.

Get some sandpaper from a hardware store. 200 grit, 400 grit, 600 grit. Grind away in order until you have something pretty smooth. I used to say to go up past 1000 grit but Cathar says the best results are with ~600 grit.

Happy lapping. My heart goes out to your sore hand. Soke it in some warm water when you're done.

I've used this kit before. Excellent Kit. It is cheaper to buy the sandpaper yourself, but if one is lazy this is the Kit to use

Big Typhoon FTW. I've used the 7700AlCu and 7700Cu (same as Fatailty, except it's not red and I'm not paying royalties to some guy who plays video games because he doesn't have a real job) and the Big Typhoon killed them both. From there, the other option just isn't as good as the BT.
