Thumbs up 275.27 drivers (Massive boost in Witcher 2!)

If these screenshots are to be believed, the new 275.27 drivers provide a massive boost in performance for the Witcher 2!

    270.61 WHQL:

    275.27 beta

They probably enable SLi as well, though I have no way of testing it myself seeing as my copy hasn't arrived yet.

    Windows Vista/7 32 bit (English)

    Windows Vista/7 64 bit (English)

    Windows XP 32 bit

    GeForce GTX 580:

Up to 4% in Crysis 2
Up to 5% in Civilization V with SLI
Up to 9% in Portal 2
Up to 13% in Bulletstorm with Antialiasing enabled
Up to 15% in Batman: Arkham Asylum with PhysX High

    GeForce GTX 560:

Up to 6% in Crysis 2
Up to 8% in Portal 2
Up to 14% in Batman: Arkham Asylum with PhysX High
Up to 15% in Bulletstorm with Antialiasing enabled

Increases gaming performance by up to 12% for dual-core CPUs in CPU-limited cases.

    NVIDIA Update

In Release 275, NVIDIA Update adds automatic SLI, multi-GPU, and antialiasing (AA) profile updates. These profile updates are automatically downloaded from NVIDIA and silently installed on your PC, keeping it up-to-the-minute with the latest game profiles. When you install a Release 270 or later GeForce driver from www.nvidia.com, you will be presented with the option to install NVIDIA Update. Click here to learn more about NVIDIA Update.
    Desktop Scaling

New NVIDIA Control Panel user interface for configuring desktop scaling, including new preview window.
Now consistently available for all displays (including VGA and HDMI connections).
New scaling override option for Windows 7 gaming.

Improved desktop resizing user interface that guides the user to disable overscanning using their HDTV controls and also provides a fallback option to enable desktop resizing via the NVIDIA Control panel.
NVIDIA desktop resizing now creates a custom, resized resolution with 1:1 pixel mapping and resizes standard resolutions for games that don’t support custom resolutions.
    NVIDIA 3D Vision

With Release 275 drivers, the 3D Vision Controller driver is now included with all GPU driver installations. This driver package includes v275.22 3D Vision Controller driver. Users are no longer required to install a separate 3D Vision Controller driver or CD driver. For more information, please view this knowledgebase article for more information.
3D Vision Window Mode support. Please view this knowledgebase article for more information.
Added support for 3D Vision Photo viewer to now work in Window Mode. When you have opened a 3D picture file check the “View” section for this new option.
Improved 3D Vision IR emitter and 3D Vision glasses synchronization
Adds support for new 3D Vision projectors: NEC NP-V300X series
Added the following 3D Vision game profiles:
    Age of Empires Online
    Assassin's Creed Brotherhood
    Battlefield Play4Free
    Duke Nukem Forever

obviously first pic shows old driver suffers low gpu usage.. the new ones boost gpu usage so the fps but still not using 98% according to second pic..

Increases gaming performance by up to 12% for dual-core CPUs in CPU-limited cases.
i hope this thing brings some boost for old quads too

Whoa, that's a great feature actually. It'd be nice if AMD follow suite (they have an automatic update before nvidia, but it's one whole package, not just for catalyst app profiles).

Is it just me or do we see a difference in image quality? In my opinion the buildings in screenshot of 270.61 whql looks more "solid" in greater distance. The building with a flag on top looks more blurred in the screenshot of 275.27 beta.

I was thinking the same thing. The ground or the wood fence is much better in the first shot.

Also noting that the GPU in the 270.61 shot is bearly being used and temps in the mid to upper 40's. The 275.27 shot was temps in the upper 50's and higher GPU usage in the mid 60's or 80's (can't tell).

I'd say fixed results are bogus, just from the screen shot quality alone.

Man, this game is bugged to hell and back..

I figured out why I can't start the game. Apparently, the game has a problem running in fullscreen mode, regardless of resolution.

I can run at my monitor's native 2560x1600, but only in windowed mode. In fullscreen mode, the launcher app just times out and closes...

Is this with a patch or just install from DVD?
I wont try my copy from Steam till at least tomorrow evening, because my company thought it would be funny to book me hotel room for today and ask to stay out
So don't know which is worse you struggle with bugs or my inability to even try Witcher 2

Running like butter on my long in the tooth HD5870, between 45 and 60 FPS on average with settings on high at 1920x1200/1080... however you want to call it.

Carfax, run "Activate.exe" from the installation directory. I was unable to get my key to show up in the registry or the registration window until after I ran that. I think that UAC, if it is on, is preventing it from running ant thus hosing up the registration process.

Their forums were down for maintenance.

    To run the game:

-> Set Windows desktop to 1920x1200 resolution. Keep the game at 2560x1600. Then you'll be able to launch in full screen.

It's a bug, and I believe CDPR are working on it. Once you get in game, it's not that bad.

I don't think CFX was supported yet ... same for SLI anyway, try different mode of MPVU ( crossfire ) using radeon Pro ( last version rc1 ) .. or for SLI user with Inspector ...

Anyway look like some peoples ( with 580 or amd 5-69xx ) get some prob..

finally i m happy to wait 2 -3 days before buy it ...

At the same time, if Nvidia and AMD drivers team was not pass their time to fix all the errors and absurdity make the game developpers it will be maybe more easy for them and they will not need to make 3 profile and 5 drivers for get cfx or SLI working ..
