I ended up using a crappy stock intel cpu fan since the GeminII S cpu cooler could not fit in there. I wanted to use a modular antec ps I had but it would have blocked the airflow from the cpu cooler. Luckily I had a spare matx ps. To make the cable management better I'll have to cut off the cables that I'm not using and cable sleeve the rest.

Eddie666, nice case, by giving more to realize you could not use the HDMI VGA because the case is obstructing the same, could you confirm this?
The internal space using the font that you used was magnificent!
nice job!
SORRY FOR MY BAD ENGLISH!
Anyone try to mount a double slot video card in this case? I know you'd have to modify the back of the case but it looks pretty simple.

Hey guys, would you say that there is a noticeable size difference between the Lian-li PC-Q07 and the Silverstone SG05? I am looking to get an ITX system that will run a 6-pin PSU gfx card comfortably. i.e. Geforce 8800GT / 9600GT / 9800GT etc... Main thing I need is for the case to be as small as possible, yet still support a graphics card that is capable of running the latest games. Reason is this machine will go in the lounge so that when the wife is working on my main gaming rig, I can move to this one and still be able to game!
I quite like the fact that you can use a normal ATX PSU and 5.25 optical drive in the Lian-Li but also like the fact that you get a 300W PSU included with the Silverstone. Which one would you go for and why?

Black Ice GTS-Lite 360 rad :: D-Tek Fuzion rev.2 CPU block :: EK Multires 100 :: D-TEK DB-1 pump :: EK HD4870 Crossfire waterblock
Oh yeah, there is.
The SG 05 has enough space (22.8 cm) for the following graphics cards:
The lian Li PC-Q07 has the following dimensions: 193 (W) x 280 (H) x 208 (D) mm.
20.8 cm depth is too short for most graphics cards.
One word about the idea to put a full size PSU into the PC-Q07.
The therory sounds good - but the practise is a disaster.
There's hardly any space for air flow.
Best solution would be to get a picoPSU instead, but 150W is not powerful enough, if you use a discrete graphics card.
I'm a fan of GeForce, but looking at the specifications, the ATI Radeo HD 4770 seems to be the ideal compromise reg. performance / heat / power consumtion and price.
IMO PC-Q07 looks the best, and at this size thats pretty much the only important part.
You go ITX for small size. If you're trying to put in a 4870 or something, you might as well get mATX and get the same size case.

Looks like the Silverstone would be best for me then. I'm probably actually going to be using a 9600GT Eco (No external 6-pin power input required) only the PCI-E slot drives the card, but would be nice to have the option of putting in something more powerful in future. The included 300w PSU should be fine to power that along with a Zotac board and E5200 or so. These cases actually seem quite cheap on scan - only £50 - 60.

Yeah, the 300W PSU is by far enough.
Have just checked the price for the SG05:
1. Scan = £ 58.41 ◄ ◄ ◄
2. Aria = n/a
3. Dabs = n/a
4. Microdirect = n/a
5. Misco = n/a
6. Novatech = n/a
7. overclockers = £83.98
8. PC World = n/a
9. Currys = n/a
10. Kustompcs = £ 87.-
11. ILGS = £ 84.10
12. KSN-Online = £ 81.20
13. OneStopPCShop = £ 75.61

ATI Radeon HD 4770 = Codename RV 740 / DX 10.1 / OL 3.0 / Chip 750 Shader 750 Mem 3200 / SP 64 / VRAM 512 DDR-5 / Interface 128 bit / 0.04 µm / MPixel per sec 12.000 / GFlops 960 / TS 826 / 90W (max) / 30W (idle)
Nice! That confirms it then.
Well it seems that the 4770 would also be a better card - it's only around £10 more than the 9600GT Eco I was looking but has much better performance. It should also be slightly shorter in length. The only thing is that it requires 6-pin aux power, but thats fine as the Silverstone's PSU has that.
Thanks for the info!

Hi, I think you'll be happy with that case, since the PSU is included.
Reg. the Zotac, I just checked the board at Amazon, it seems to be the GF9300-D-E (silver heatsink) version.
Zotac has issued a new version called GF9300-I-E (black heatsink) beginning of December.
It doesn't seem to be available in the UK yet. However, most stores within the EU stock them already.
D-E (old):
2 SATA connectors
GPU core clock: 450 MHz
Shader: 1200 MHz
I-E (new):
3 SATA connectors
GPU core clock: 580 MHz
Shaders: 1400 MHz
(irrelevant, if you use an external graphics card)
Wake-on-USB support
Supports undervolting:
CPU voltage: [-0.1v up to +0.3v]
Chipset voltage: [1.10v up to 1.25v]
Memory voltage: [1.80v up to 2.10v]
Dual-link DVI output for resolution up to 2560x1600

What CPU have you ordered, if you don't mind me asking ?

I read about the newer revision earlier - the black heatsink version but wasn't sure of the differences - the extra SATA connector is very handy and the onboard GPU clock speed enhancements I guess could help if using it for physx. Too bad its not here yet though!
I have ordered a Intel Dual-core E5400 (2.7GHz). Should be easy enough to clock up to around 3.4 to 3.6 GHz I would say
Then once I retire my current main gaming PC, I'll take the E8400 and pop it into this mini-ITX system. So its kind of just a stepping stone CPU at the moment.
*edit*
Just went back to check on my order and turns out I ordered a version with 3 SATA connectors, Wake on S3 function etc... Here are the updates originally posted on Zotac's forum of this version :
This is the GF9300-G-E model.- 3 pcs of onboard SATA port (only 2 pcs on the older PCB)
- Wake Up by USB Device from S3 Suspend mode (not available on the older PCB)
- Dual-Link DVI Port (only Single Link DVI Port on the older PCB)

Mmm, that's strange.
I guess they've got the revision number wrong.
Would be awesome if you're actually going to get the I-E version.
Please come back with an update once you've received your mainboard.
Oh, and a happy new year 2010 !!
PS: Had a E8400 (Wolfdale) as well for little over a year, until I exchanged it for a Q9550 (Yorkfield).
Actually the performance hasn't improved noticeable but the heat has gone up a little.
Ergo: E8400 for the win !

Will do - hoping the order arrives by next Wednesday. I'll be interested to see what the specs come out as - the image shows 3 SATA ports and the model numbering seems to confirm this, but whether I get this version or the older revision remains to be seen... Scavenger the SG06 looks pretty sweet. I like the aluminium front panel.

Thanks. I like it a lot too.
That thermaltake case uses an SFX PSU so that puts in the same boat as the SG-06. Hopefully Silverstone's 400w 80+ SFX PSU comes out soon to save us all.
On a side note, I think I'm going to get the PC-Q07 for my home server

The Radeon 5850 can draw up to 150 W.
Leaving 250W for mainboard, CPU, RAM and HDD.
They say you should never drain a PSU at 100%, but I think 400W could still be sufficient.
Best would be if you had a power meter.
The Thermaltake Element Q has a built in SFX PSU with the dimensions 100 (w) x 125 (d) x 63.5 (h) mm.
If you decide not to use the supplied 200W SFX PSU but get a third party 400W one, I can't see why it shouldn't fit.
As for the DFI LP MI P55-T36, I've really never looked into i7, but great to see that Mini iTX is still going strong beyond the Q series.
Two 240-pin DDR3 up to 8GB system memory, delivers up to 21Gb/s bandwidth at 1333MHz, but it hasn't got an IGP on board, mmm ...
I'm using that board with a i7 860 and a 5770. So far I love! The lynnfields run so much cooler than the bloomfields.
