Bababooey! Bababooey! i wouldn't buy a GTX 260 right away. expect pressure from ATI's 4870 cards to force Nvidia to lower prices as far as they can. i think they'll go lower than $400 pretty quick if you have a little patience. that being said, 9800 SLI will be faster in games that scale well with SLI and the 260 will be faster in games that don't. i think the 260 will be very fast at an extremely high resolution like 2560x1600, but most people obviously don't have monitors that big. i would personally take 9800 SLI over a single 260.

It depends on your resolution and what you want to achieve. Personally I'm aiming for an early september build with a 1900x1200 capable monitor and right now the GTX 280 is looking as a nice choice due to it's increased memory bandwidth which is able to handly bigger textures better but it depends on your personally setup. Anything less (in terms of resolution) than 1900x1200 and your choice can include the 512MB models however if you're looking at 1900x1200 or higher I would greatly suggest the >512MB models... That's just my opinion

4870 seems to be par with the GTX 260 anyway.. will also cost a good bit less. However since you have a 9800GTX already, getting a second one will easily outperform both the 4870 or GTX 260.

atleast wait for the 9800GTX+, but having 2 9800 would make u completely driver dependent, but then the gtx will perform better

i think Anandtech currently has the best video charts up right now.

    http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3341

read it through and you'll see results from all the cards people are interested in right now, including CrossFire and SLI. very in-depth review.

I've had a GTX 260 to play with for a few days and it doesn't seem that much faster than my single overclocked GTS G92. Crysis runs about 10 fps faster. I game at 1600x1200 and I have to say that I'm not that impressed by the GTX 260 at that resolution. I was going to stepup for like $170 and I decided to totally forget about it. It's not worth it at my gaming resolution. You really need to game at higher resolutions to really get your money's worth. Plus, I have a feeling that Nvidia will have to drop this closer to $300 to compete with the 4870 and I would hate to overpay for the 260 even with the stepup program. My GTS G92 is more than adequate for at least another year. You really need the GTX 280 or ATI 4870 to get any really visible improvement in gaming experience and it'll be most noticeable at higher resolutions.
